Beth is the allusion of the character Baba Yaga, though her role as that won’t play out for a good long while as she’s still only growing into it and learning to discover it! She’s a “what if Baba Yaga had a backstory before she became the well-known witch found in the woods?” kinda character.

She’s a character that is neither technically good nor technically bad, and for a big part of the series she plays the role of being a holding scale between Emma and Lilith and balancing them out and guiding them, a role her father had placed upon her at a young age. Does she succeed? Well that’s still up in the air.

She has magic and can shape-shift into a dog, her dog form often taking the form of a massive hellhound when she’s very upset. Her magic is primarily tied to the element fire and water, with Fire being her main one. But she can cast other spells outside of the elements.

She has little to no known fear of the Dark Ones. At first it was spawned from her late mother’s protection leaving her untouchable by anyone when a Dark One’s present or by the Dark One itself, lest they unleash the wrath of the first on them. (she can’t kill them but will often lash out through the current D.O. magically and hinder them from taking any further actions until Bee’s safe) Even if Beth were to lose that sort of connection, and she’s willing and fine to look and insult Rumplestiltskin to his face even if it would be at the cost of her life. She simply doesn’t care!

Voice Claim
A light, irish accent that's soft-spoken. While doesn't stutter, she will derail from a subject before getting to the point she's trying to make, a constant rambler, especially under pressure.

A young, dark-skinned, vitiligo woman standing at 5 ft tall. Her hair is dark, but with a pale strand running a little off-centre starting where the vitiligo meets her scalp. It goes down just below her shoulder, but usually pulled up in a simple ponytail. Her face is rounded with a hooked nose. Her eyes are youthful and big, one blue and the other brown. The blue eye has its sight dimmed and fading with time.

Her stature is lean, leaning towards underweight. Though her endurance and strength aren't as well-built she makes up for being agile and fast.

Beth has several beauty marks over her face. Though seemingly haphazardly placed around, they form the consetellations Canis Minor (above her right eye) and Major.

Attire //

Beth's wardrobe consists of very little. A lot of the stuff she would wear in earlier seasons are outfits and items she had shared with August. This meant a lot of her attire outgrew her a lot. She'd wear dark, leather jackets and trousers.

In later seasons her wardrobe expands, consisting of that still same dark palette she was used to but mostly of sweaters and hooded clothing. She can't really match to save her life, often adorning the outfits similar to those she cares. She wears her loved ones on her sleeves.

Accessories

A cricket charm bracelet August made for her when they were younger is something she wears on her left wrist. She also bears her parents' engagement ring (a ring shaped like a piece of straw tied together) on her right, ring finger.

One thing she rarely takes off is her salmon bandana, which she wears over her head.

She would often wear a pink neckerchief as well, but keeps it untied.

Body Modifications

The first notable thing would be her vitiligo, which has started fading out as she grew older.

She has a large gash below her right ribcage, the scar looking like it had been fully healed...

There are a few scars on her back shaped similar to lashes. Though she rarely if ever talks about what those are.

The Hound

A charming little dark-coloured hound baring traits of both the Schnauzer and Irish Wolfhound breeds. Lean in stature. She has furred brows and a mustache over her muzzle. Her tail is medium in legnth, almost short. Her ears are semi-floppy.

The Beast

When her anger and emotions get the better of her, Bethan's form will change a morph into a large hellhound-like creature, with pointed ears and talon-like paws. Her face will melt away giving way to nothing but a skull, with teeth whose bite seers like burning metal. Flames lick at her ankles and down from her head to her lower back as well as the tip of her tail.

The more overwhelmed she is, the bigger the monster, even going so far as to growing two heads.

Personality wise She is a biiiiiiiit of a big pessimist. She’s very cynical and doesn’t really have a lot of friends, not one for a lot of trust, girl’s quite isolated. She’s a lonely individual but doesn’t know how to tackle that issue too much and too well so she just. Doesn’t.

She doesn’t think much of herself (frankly thinks nothing of herself) and will always push her problems and everything aside to tend to someone else’s needs. Because despite her insecurities and problems, she cares and loves deeply. She’s incredibly loyal and would do anything for her friends and loved ones. She is extremely dedicated to her people and would do anything and everything to ensure their happiness and happy-ever-afters, no matter the price she may have to pay.

There are moments where she can come off as a little immature, Bee often seeming a lot younger than she may actually be, but she tries to hide that and deal with it by instead mimicking those she looks up to or cares about. It’s best shown in her attitude towards other people as well as what she’d wear. (Lots of mix and matching there)

This girl cannot lie and will not lie. Instead she’ll choose to avoid you and any problem that may exist even though that is the absolute worst possible choice she can make 👍 (she’s so okay). She doesn’t know how to work through her problems or emotions and is always in a constant state of pushing them away thinking it’s better that way only for it to backfire and turn her into a bit of a monster (quite literally).

Age of Happiness

Born in Camelot to Merlin and Nimue, Beth's life started fairly roughly.. and the harshness of her life dind't end there.

Her father was imprisoned in a tree not long after she had been born, Nimue's Dark One streak in full swing, leaving kingdoms and people afraid for their lives of this new threat. She lived her life out being raised by not only Merlin's apprentice, Archimedes but also her parents fairy friend, Zarina. Due to Nimue's line of "work" it wasn't often that she would see her mother at home, yet that didn't stop her from craving her mother's love. Unfortunately that doesn't last for long, as one night when she was around 4 years old, Her mother was killed right before her very eyes, the perpatrator advancing on her as well when she blacked out.

This is what she knows for sure when she wakes up after almost 120 years have past, remembering only that her mother is gone. Things could have returned to normal but they did not. 8 years she spends in Camelot, often victim to bullying and harrassment from the locals, who blamed her awakening for bringing about a plague. A curse is what she was often seen as. A tain, a stain, nothing good would come of her. But also a freak, as her body never changed or grew. When this was realised Zarina took the child and left for Neverland.

15 years of peace is what she knew there, outside of Pan's creation. When the Jones' brothers arrived things went south, as an altercation between Zarina and Liam leads her to leaving Beth with a family back in Camelot in hopes of a better life with her own kind. For three years Beth had lived out in the house though was never treated well, seen as nothing to the family and even led to believe her fairy had given up on her. Zarina would often drop by and check to see how she was doing, but the visits waned with time until they at last stopped. When that time arrived, the family took their chances and kicked Beth out, leaving her to survive and thrive on her own in a cruel world.

Into the Unknown

The world is not a kind place, and Beth is quick to learn that, finding a friend in her trying times in a strange beast that would otherwise be percieved as a threat. the two bonded after it had previously hatched, Beth affectionately calling it "Chicken" from the second she found it.

The two traversed the world together, flying high up into the clouds where the Giants existed, to the forgotten realm where the Elves had their abode, eventually the race fading out of existence with Beth narrowly escaping the war that was waged on them. She soon found herself on Arendelle, where she resided until she was found and taken from the docks where she was forced into a life of unindentured servitude for 35 years. Punishment wasn't something she could unfortunately escape from either, but eventually she was dropped off and left behind in Camelot, the folks of the ship finding no use for her.

The Kingdom Camelot

Her reputation in Camelot had never changed and the hostility she was met with in the past remained. She was eventually taken in by a knight through a blackmailed incident that forced her to work for them. She was used both to deal with his fox pest problem, A young teen named Todd; and also use her as a stepping stool to climb his way up in Arthur’s ranks, by “bringing the curse to justice”, after framing her for the murder of his son. She escaped with the help of a fairy, who blessed her with the form of a dog and distraction that allowed her to flee Camelot for good.

She ended up in Misthaven, where she wondered and ended up in trouble after a pickpocketing case gone wrong, until Merlin, her father had remembered her existence due to the crisis of what the Author had done with both Lilith and Emma’s fates, using her heart that was born of both the greatest light and the greatest dark magic, as a means to balance the two girls out. She was sent to the “Real World” to find them and guide them, but she only ever found one (or so she thought).

The Realm Without Magic

Bethan found herself in a world she could barely comprehend. With loud noises and strange lights and lots of people. She could never find the girl she was asked to look for (or so she thought) and ended up wandering the streets of Boston for a while. When Pinocchio and Emma showed up, she found herself drawn in and chatting the boy up, bonding with him a touch but stayed behind with Emma once he had left. She took on the name Bethany here, after someone misunderstanding what name she had used.

Emma and Beth grew up together, even going so far as to running away from the orphanage together in 1990 and winding up on the streets. Gone were the bad memories Beth was plagued with growing up in the Enchanted Forest, having pushed them away. And the world she was in now, the curse no longer impacted her, and she found herself growing up.

The two would often separate but meet again at other times, but regardless they remained pretty close. Emma was Beth's first friend and Beth was Emma's. At fifteen she's taken in by a farmer for whom she works as a helper, eventually landing herself a job at the local police station. Her and Emma, after a series of unfortunate circumstances end up rekindling the old friendship (even if Beth finds herself later yearning for more.) Though that doesn't last when Beth's first relationship ends up isolating her and, when she loses her job, assaulted. She is helped by a passerby who she has no clue would end up being her partner for the rest of her life.

The man, going by the name of August, ends up being someone she befriends, the two travelling around together for 5 years and eventually arriving in Phuket, where they remained until the call for Storybrooke reaches them. Though originally having forgotten everything, Beth's memories begin to return when a strange, older man recalls a mission she was supposed to fullfill.

Fun Facts

She has a couple of allergies but is mostly sensitive to foods and dietries similar to that of a dog's. That being said; Beth is in fact allergic to both chocolate and onions.
Beth's story is unknown to all and in no known books. This is due to her still discovering it. Given this is a play on an idea for a fun backstory to Baba Yaga's origins, she has to make her own future.

"If I'm alone, first immediate instict is to run. I've run from trouble often, this is not a new thing for me. But to be fqir nowadays I'm the one looking for trouble. Especially if that trouble threatens those I love."

"...No. And I don't think I ever could be. I know many say they are, that they're proud of who I am and who I've become but I simply can't."

"No. Death is as natural as breathing life. It'll catch any of us all in due time."

"Perfection is a fool's ideology. Someone who thinks a world can be perfect live in a dream that simply cannot be fulfilled. Perfection isn't real. It's just a matter of, is the world some place that can bring you more joy or happiness in it. Cause why should its flaws be what deters you from loving it? You don't need perfection to be happy...."

"Someone that loves unconditionally. I don't need more than that."

"At one point; my mother. But otherwise no."

"I don't think I can think of one. Darkness hung over all 500 years of my childhood. There have been bright spots but I can't really think of anything, well, Dark that's darker than the rest."
