Profile
01 — Profile
Born with a rare form of viscerosis, Dioe's developed both an incredible pain and fear tolerance, given the hallucinations that they see through their mutated left eye. Their visions have led them to develop a morbid fascination with all things dead and grotesque. Despite their private interests, they come off as incredibly calm and polite, if not somewhat stoic and indifferent because of their monotone voice.

Has an EQE implant in the form of a neck collar. The symbol glows yellow when they use essence.

Hair is usually tied up in a bun, but can be let down. Their hair is wavy, but cut flat at the ends.

Always wears a medical eyepatch with a cross symbol on it. Under it is an abnormal eye with a big iris and five smaller irises that are constantly moving around. It's not very pleasant to look at, so they always keep it covered.

Usually seen with their labcoat-poncho on, even when they're working. It's quite big on them and can sometimes cover their arms when their hands are down. Underneath it, they wear blue overalls over a yellow dress shirt.

02 — Personality
Dioe comes off as aloof and stoic; it's hard to figure out what they're ever truly thinking. They have a tendency to focus on their work and their thoughts above everything else, finding themselves disinclined to keep up small talk and casual conversations if they aren't genuinely invested in who they're talking to. It's not that they're trying to be rude: Dioe just has a very strong sense of prioritization, knowing exactly what they need to do each day and exactly what order everything needs to be done in. Either way, for all their efforts in keeping strangers at a distance, they're cursed with having a calming aura and approachable demeanor that makes them less intimidating than they might otherwise seem to be.
Their indifference works as an effective front for Dioe's darker interests. They tend to regard their viscerosis as somewhat of a "curse" -- a more severe one than their ability to draw people towards them, of course. Given that their infected eye has caused them to have gruesome hallucinations ever since they were young, Dioe slowly developed a fascination with the grotesque, the sinister, the morbid. They have a surprising familiarity with death, having no qualms with performing experiments on dead (or close-to-dead) animals in order to understand more about their biology and anatomy. The fact that the doctors wrote them off as a lost cause has only made them more determined than ever to live -- finding a cure for the disease that's haunted them their whole life.
They keep the more macabre facets of their personality locked away, however -- making sure that their loved ones are protected from the horrors that they've been keeping under control since they were a child. Even though they might have a more twisted perception of the world than others, Dioe cares deeply about the people who've managed to break down their barriers. They don't genuinely want to hurt others... unless they try to hurt Dioe's friends, of course. Loyal to the core, Dioe despises anybody who might try to get in their way or harm those that they care about. Despite their youthful appearance, they often see themselves as somewhat of a protector for their closest friends.

04 — Trivia

Dioe is an only child, so they're the one in charge of handling their family's store most of the time. Their parents suggested that they hire more people to help out more, but their natural distrust for anybody trying to handle their merchandise prevents them from doing so. If they need to leave for college or for their intern work, they just close shop.

Constantly comes up with new concoctions and puts their new products on display in the front of their shop. They carefully keep track of their sales, separately from their store's official catalog, so that they can scout out which of their potions are successful or not.

Math is their best subject, especially after having to calculate change so quickly throughout the years. Their friends are often impressed because they don't need to use a calculator when randomly multiplying or dividing numbers.

Tends to eat very quickly because of busy days spent at the store. This habit still continues when they're eating out with their friends; they're usually the first to finish eating even though they order a lot of food. They usually compete with Celeuxe to see who can eat the most food. (The loser has to pay for both their meals.)

Despite looking and being aloof, Dioe actually cares a lot and is concerned for those that they consider their friends. They check up on them often and like to chat through call or text. For anyone else, though, and especially customers... well, they don't care about them at all.

Having been hospitalized for most of their life because of viscerosis, they've spent most of their time in a boring hospital room staring at the only clock on the opposite wall to their bed. The sound of ticking clocks is calming to them, and they've learned how to accurately count how many seconds have passed even without a timer.
