Casey was a young person living with her father and helping him run his farm supplies shop whenever he was unable (either on the road doing other jobs, or too unwell to do it himself). She and Lottie Moon have been touch-and-go friends their whole lives as a result of their families' friendship, but in highschool they became much closer. Casey introduced Lottie to gender-nonconformity, and together they discovered they were both trans.
At around 21, Lottie brought Casey through the Nether portal on her farm as she had many times before. This time they were not so careful, and wandered too far. Discovering a Fortress, they were caught off guard by Wither skeletons and panicked, running out of arrows. Casey was pierced through the torso by a sword, withering away in Lottie's arms. Unbeknownst to Lottie, his spirit followed it for the next five years undetected by everyone except Buttercup Taloft (who didn't tell it because how do you bring that up??)
