worldbuilding info (Delightful- Main Characters)

    A powerless witch who is assigned to a quest to obtain another pure flower as the old one wilts away. While she has a nature affinity and can heal plantlife in small increments (bigger increments can make her fatigued, or even kill her outright due to strain,) her "powers" are completely dysfunctional and essentially do not operate. The closest she has to a power is creating walls of root that wither absurdly quick, similar to Lemleth's infamous Wall of Thorned Roots without its usefulness. Because of this, she often takes defensive tactics and measures rather than offensive. As the Witches Depths holds no plantlife, she tends to feel useless and suffers from self-esteem issues, often wondering if she even has a path to carve. Her journey makes her realize her gift and what she desires to do with her life. She lives amongst humans as she finds solidarity with them and their struggles. She becomes the wife of Mako and lives happily in the Koa Village. She indirectly becomes the cause of humans and witches keeping close contact again.

    Cadmium's childhood friend. Unlike Cadmium, he has potent psychokinesis and is considered gifted for it, much to his dismay. He believes the emphasis on power in their society is a "recipe for burnout of the new ages." Like Cadmium, he struggles with the path he wants to take in his life and hopes to find answers through the enlightenment of their quest. Knowing the aforementioned witch's lack of powers, he is very supportive of her, but also tends to go overboard as if Cadmium is too helpless and socially inept; this is due to his own internalized assumptions and personal fears of society's more unfortunate sides. After watching her growth during their journey, he learns that Cadmium was always strong, social, and fearless in her own way. Elbine eventually moves up to the surface much like Cadmium to pursue his actual desire to laze around and have a laid back life, realizing that the path he wants is freedom from his high expectations. He settles in the Komano Sanctuary.

    A close friend of Cadmium and Elbine from the Mahogany Apprenticeship Program, but secretly escapes to the surface to purify spirits for "the justice of humanity and magic users!" after a possession incident with her mentor. The three run into each other in Pelateria Town with May, Milbell, and a human mercenary Lune on her side. She and her own allies join the journey, having nothing else better to do. She is exceptionally talented and gifted [and absolutely loves the attention, by the way,] due to her circumstance of having an affinity to many types of magic at once. The drawback of this, however, is that magic she casts is completely and unavoidably randomized. However, with Chelsea's freeflowing and excitable spirit, she is always able to go with what is thrown at her. Like Elbine, she is supportive of Cadmium; unlike him though, Chelsea doesn't coddle her and loves when Cadmium commits to her gut feelings and instincts, even encouraging it which can lead to occasional trouble. She constantly tries to help Elbine realize that Cadmium doesn't need to be shielded from the real world while also assuring him that being supportive in a power demanding society is what witches and wizards need. Tessa was supposed to be her companion, but Chelsea left her behind out of fear of getting her caught in dangerous situations. Her and Mako have an aversion to each other due to Chelsea burning down the crops and thriving agriculture in his village from her temporary possession, but learn to enjoy each others...Personalities, I suppose. She continues to keep living on the surface despite Mahogany welcoming her back with open arms, and becomes a wingman for Toki and Rena in her spare time. Her, Lune, and Tessa also develop an interesting family dynamic.

    Son of the former guardian Koa. He now keeps Koa's village in order and protects them from all harm. As the son of Koa, he only tries to get involved in social things when necessary for the village so he can stay focused on keeping the village secured and healthy. He keeps a majority of his emotions to himself. He is revered for singlehandedly fighting invasions and ambushes himself.

His father is infamous for advocating the execution of the magical and supernatural along with the Great Avalon. Mako never participated in such deeds and has never agreed with his father on many topics, but he is no saint by any means. He has shunned and threatened to punish those who are supernatural or utilize magic, and has done it to Cadmium's own group upon their first interaction. Exposure to Cadmium's kindness and her sacrificial healing slowly opened himself up to a change of heart; his generation's interpretation of moral standings is challenged when he agrees to join Cadmium on his journey, saying that her quest to protect her own home is a beautiful display of strength and to help out would satisfy his personal debt to her. While he starts out silent and stoic around his newfound group of allies, and holding his guard up constantly, he slowly opens up to Cadmium's team and treats many of them like he treats the village: his own family.

Although, despite his familial feelings towards the others, many of the allies can tell that the way he treats Cadmium is...A little different in comparison. The constant tendency to motivate her, watching to make sure she doesn't go off to "awaken her defunct powers," having honest talks at midnight when everyone is presumably asleep in their tents, even SHARING a tent with her, HOLDING HER WHEN SHE IS COLD TOO AS WELL, protecting her from harms way physically, tanking hits that could kill her or incapacitate her greatly, smiling and even laughing often around her, taking up most of her social interaction...The list goes on. Mako...takes quite an intrigue on the witch, for lack of better words. Elbine and Chelsea are admittedly jealous at how two the close have gotten and express this to each other quite constantly.
