Mariella is always on the move. She's engaged with practically everything humanly possible, from student clubs to community service to tutoring and beyond. Her frantic lifestyle makes her quite a difficult figure to catch, but she's determined to get herself into one of California's top univeristies and achieve success in every facet of her life! Her perfectionistic mindset tends her towards scorn, but everyone still begs to work with her in a group project.
Spider Bright & Slap Bass -- Mariella's two current obsessions. It's unfortunate that only one of those can be used to further Mariella's dreams. Her work documenting Spider-Bright has somewhat overtaken her current workload, but she's documenting a live cultural phenomeon! There's no way that wouldn't nab her a spot at any high-ranking UC school there is. Slap-Bass, on the other hand, has fallen to the wayside, along with the band she's supposed to be a part of.

Mariella has a secret. She used to love jumping around in the mud. Riding around neighborhoods aimlessly, touring museums for fun. High school seems to have drained all the fun out of her in recent years. Those activities she enjoyed as a child are now anathema to her goals for the future. Deep down however, she still yearns for the freedom of childlike joy. But Mariella is going to be the first in her family to graduate from college. She's going to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a judge! She's going to make her abuela proud and shove her success in tío Andres face! Her abuela was the first person to ever believe in her, and as much as she's cheered Mariella on over the years, she can't help but feel pressure to always be at the top of every list, achieve every award, and make everyone hapy all the time. Yeah it's a problem, she's aware, but she's held out this long and everything is fine.
MAX STACEY tense
Mariella knows she's been blowing Max off for weeks and they have every right to be angry! But the silent treatment? Soo childish. She's been putting up an unaffected front, but the truth is that Max was so freeing to be around. Maybe she's ruined this... but it can be avoided with more studying.
Mr. "Daddy's Money" Ozborne is vying for salutatorian (because there's no way in H E L L he's getting valedictorian) and it's really getting on her nerves. He's probably never had to work for a single thing in his life!
Sam's a bright girl who flits from friendgroup to friendgroup, but always seems to follow behind Mariella. Not that she minds it, she's glad at least one person has the sense to take her good advice. Sam's a slippery one to catch, though. Makes you think she's got some secret she's hiding...
