TW: PARENTAL DEATH Zoe was born in Arizona or to her two parents Glen and Phéline Merrill and she has an older sister Chloë. Glen was a botanist and Pheline was an anthropologist and to pursue their careers they often were abroad. Before their kids’ birth both had spent 15 years in South America!! Because of this lifestyle (which didn't stop bc they had kids) the girls grew up with their paternal grandma. They still came home and brought the girls trinkets and told them all about their travels but Zoe only saw her parents for maybe a week for the whole year.

Glen and Pheline decide they are going to take a boat down the Amazon and track it because they are really into that type of thing. And uhm tldr they got Oceangated (not imploded but they did die haha). It was pretty big news because they were not like the most famous but the expedition was supposed to be historic. One of Zoe’s earliest memories is watching the news that her parents passed away. Zoe was abt 4 when her parents passed and Chloe about 8. But for now they continued living with their grandma. Who was overcome by a lot of grief over her son's passing actually and also passed away b4 the year was up. So now 4 year old Zoe and 8 year old Chloe were all alone in the world. They ended up in foster care and for a while their foster families were careful to try not to separate them. But as they moved state to state across the US, less families wanted to take Chloe in (for all the reasons of wanting a younger kid and not older ones). The first time they were separated was when Chloe was 12 and Zoe 8 and Zoe took it the hardest. They’d both cry and bc theyd cry the families would throw them out and stuff and b/w 8-12 Zoe hadn't seen her sister. Sometimes they'd FaceTime or call or whatever but most of the time they wanted Zoe to be more like their family. Every once in a while a family would pick up Chloe but not Zoe and blah blah. When Zoe was 12 a family agreed to take *both* of them in. They hadn't even been in the same state for 3 years; they were so happy to be united again.This home was their happiest. They were together and the family was nice. They had other siblings and everything was good. It even looked like the family would adopt them!!! They were happy. But as Chloe began fastly approaching 18 the parents became less and less involved. The day after she turned 18 they kicked her out of the home to fend for herself. Alone once again Zoe began just waiting before the same would happen to her. She was like 6 months to 18 when she found out she'd be rehomed and potentially adopted out which was shocking and she was annoyed until she found out it was Chloe!! They asses rushed them adoption papers and finally they were reunited for good The pair moved to ny to try to make a better life for themselves, Chloe being very insistent that her younger sister attends college and do something with her life (Chloe can’t because she wants to support Zoe. The pair of them!! Struggling hard but they share this tiny little apartment and make things work. She became a psychologist after nearly flunking out of school and terrible mental health issues. Paying off a lot of loans. They still live together. Zoe portrays herself as this well put together person but she’s not. During school she met her first partner Adrina and then after graduating they met their other partner Santina whom she frequently visits at their apartments.
