Ilya is the calm blue to Johann's energetic red, the quiet balance of the pair. He is soft-spoken and rarely seems to have any sort of strong reaction, as his powerful emotions are kept deeply buried within. Only Johann is permitted to see-everyone else Ilya trusted are all dead, now. His comforting smile and gentle teasing are disarming; they work wonders at hiding the pain within, the violence that has haunted his entire existence. Ilya is ruled by guilt and remorse. He will never forgive himself for his past, nor Johann, and this fact eats at him as well. Is it any wonder that he allowed himself to be killed, and didn't fight back? Even knowing his family would be irreparably damaged by it, Ilya couldn't refuse death-he could not see himself as someone worthy of being in their lives. It may have been the most selfish moment of his life, but it was the only one he had ever truly allowed himself to have. If Ilya were to see his children now, if he knew Johann had died for them, there would be only deep regret left for him to feel.

•Tanned skin, dark grey eyes like his son Ymir

•Three most prominent scars are those upon his face: one over his left eyebrow, the others on his left and right cheek.

•Has dark brown freckles on his face that stand out starkly in comparison to his skin tone.

•Has a similar shade of blonde hair to his daughter Hilda, his being only a little darker.
