A tea for your thoughts, Lord Shark-Dog?

about

name Arturia Romaria
vision Hydro (Ousia-Aligned)
constellation Album Vexillum
weapon Polearm
birthplace Fontaine
affiliation Fortress of Meropide
birthday July 25th
rarity ★★★★

Arturia is the younger sister of Fontaine's Watcher, Soleil. Willingly exiling herself within the Fortress of Meropide before Wriothesley's reign, she has been called by many others as "The Fortress' Flagbearer" for attempting to keep some modicum of order within the den of misfits (as the current administration allowed for it that time). As Wriothesley's era started, the burden of her role lessened and nowadays, she has been relegated to the Duke's assistant and liason for miscellaneous on-goings within and outside the Fortress.

Unlike her sister, Arturia embraces the concept of freedom and is a free-spirit, much rather acting without the proper rules and etiquette embeded within Fontaine's Courts. She is rather stubborn and steadfast in her ideals, making her the unstoppable force to Soleil's immovable wall. She is rather fierce and stern when her personal boundaries are tested (something she shares with her sister) and is willing to give hours of lectures if pushed further. Otherwise, she is usually carefree and rather laid-back, often she will chastise playfully and can take what she dishes out. The only exception seemed to have been the Duke, as Arturia would usually end up either fuming or personally would back down, described by Wriothesley as 'a mouse backed in a corner, trying to either run away or bite... now stack that in a trench coat and you got Arty in the flesh.'

trivia

  • Just like her sister, her hair and eyes were initially that of a pale, white color. However, her Romaria genes ensure that upon receiving a Vision, the color of it blends and bleeds into her hair and eyes.
  • Wriothesley has described her once as "Three mice in a trench coat", a call-back to their running joke of giving each other the most absurd descriptions of one another (with Wriothesley's being "A hybrid shark-dog that swims in a teapot")
    • When they bicker, sometimes those descriptions were shortened to simply "Miss Mice" and "Lord Shark-Dog" respectively.
  • Arturia had once stated that she had copied her sister's hairstyle to feel closer to her (but ditched the hat somewhere along the line)
    • That said, later on she begins styling it up into a high-ponytail, especially during the Summer season.
  • She can face the most horrifying of creatures and most ghastly of foes... But will fall flat if they are in a shape or a version of a Crab.
  • Her burst animation is similar to that of HSR!Bronya's Skill usage: Pointing her polearm at the enemy before stomping it to the ground and unleashing her hydro burst.
  • Apparently, both her and Wrio had met prior to their respective incidents, which is where their nicknames for one another had stemmed from.
  • Arturia has a faint gash on her back from when she was hurt by a rogue hilichurl (that had caused her to recover in Mondstadt)
  • After she and Wriothesley had gotten together, when people call her the Duchess of Meropide, Arturia is easily flustered yet is obviously pleased with the title (though that wont stop her from being embarrassed if Wriothesley uses it as ammo for him to tease her with)

story

Past: Into the Land of Freedom

Arturia had been a sort of unspoken child in the Romarias. Only her sister, ever so stern and worried for her all the time, had been her pillar of support, most often she would cower behind her when their parents would chastise and scold them for something she couldn't quite understand. Though she did manage to make a single friend out of a younger Wriothesley with their bickering and same unease within their families, it would soon unfortunately end when she bid her farewell to him the night before she was displaced to Mondstadt after the hilichurl attack. The very next day, he was convicted upon his murder of his parents and his exile onto the Fortress of Meropide, leaving Arturia none the wiser.

It had been mostly quiet days other than the usual dynamics of their family until one day, a rogue hilichurl had snuck into their estate, harming and nearly killing Arturia if it hadn't been for her sister's timely arrival and defense. Though it wasn't as life-threatening of an injury, she'd need much more proper care and focus and with their parents' connection to the Church of Favonius (the official reason anyway), Arturia was sent there to recover much more freely. In Mondstadt, the influence of the Land of Freedom had drilled into her and planted its seeds into her mindset, making her much more outspoken and freely conveying her thoughts without a care. Though she still would at times cower when she is on the losing end, her bluffing skills had increased tremendously.

Present: Reunions

The news of her family's demise and fall did not reach her ears for quite some time, thus greatly shocking her upon finally being informed. She went straight back home, nearly demanding anyone from the Maison to let her know of the details until Soleil had finally appeared before her. Though there was a brief moment of the two of them acting like the past, Arturia quickly noted that something felt odd about her sister, something that had changed in her when she was gone. She seemed much more cold, pulling away from her affectionate touches, and most notably: she refused to look directly at her. This had caused her to worry and to continously push for answers until Soleil had snapped, telling her to keep her nose out of certain things.

This simply made the head-stubborn Arturia snoop around more but finding nothing close to the truth. Not even the incident surrounding their family's massacre was explained to her. So hurt and betrayed, she questioned Soleil once more, swallowing the fear and need to hide from her steely gaze. There, Soleil said nothing but told her of her newfound position as the head of the Romaria Charity Fund and Soleil stepping down to become the Chief Justice's Secretary. This had made her explode with anger, asking her if this is her way of keeping her quiet or to shut her up. The argument grows, each side spiting out harsh words and biting phrases until Arturia was so sick of it, and told her that she'll find out the truth for herself, without her help, and that she will be the one to judge whether her words are right or wrong.

When she stormed out of Palais Mermonia, she felt her chest grow warm as a Vision appeared before her, settling onto her outstretched hand. Ecstatic, she was about to run off to tell her sister but remembering their cold argument, she refrained from doing so, instead making plans about leaving her presence and her scope of influence.

Arturia felt herself smile smugly when she finished penning her letter and sending it to the Garde in charge of sending them to the surface. First, she needed to carve a space in the gloomy Fortress, and upon seeing a teen Wriothesley, she figured he was the best place to start with. When they came to an agreement about helping to sponsor him (and later on his reign in the Fortress) it was the start of her finally becoming the Fortress' Flagbearer.

Future: Reconciliations

Years had past and though the Romaria's relationship had stagnated and plummeted from before, Arturia yearned to reconcile with her estranged sister. She knew while she had declared back then about her desire to learn the truth, she was not a single step closer into learning what had changed her usually much more caring sister. Though Wriothesley had promised her to look into it with some of the court records he had snagged, there was barely any substance there that couldn't simply be found in a copy of the Steambird.

Still, Arturia had hoped and during the time the Traveler had set foot in the Fortress, she did learn somethings about her sister that gave her the feeling even more. Soleil inquiring about her well-being, asking others to look out for her, even certain times wherein she had met up with Wriothesley and had inquired about her (without letting Arturia know, of course) That hope was squashed during the Betrayal Arc of Soleil towards the people of Fontaine but upong the dust settling down and finally the truth revealed, Arturia had began mending her relationship with Soleil, as her sister was finally free from the clutches of the Mad God and can now safely let her in her heart once again.
