Flamberge

Flamberge is an assassin who silently disposes of their victims. They fell into a great debt many years ago, which led them to their first hit. Since then, they've made a living off of killing, never paying a second glance to their victims. Initially, Flamberge covered up their true profession by becoming a respected explorer, allowing them to kill with less suspicion, until they traveled to Treasure Town on a job and were exposed by Team Spark. Once they were taken into custody however, they vanished without a trace. 

While on the surface they seem like a good natured, if somewhat abrasive, character, Flamberge is cold and ruthless at what they do. They prefer to work quickly and silently. Years of killing has left their psyche damaged, and they don't feel compelled to make connections. Most connections they do make are fairly surface level and casual, and don't last as long once Flamberge leaves the area. 

Their trip to Treasure Town challenged this. Before Team Spark had exposed them, Flamberge got distracted on the job by a Primarina named Frost, another respected explorer, who could feel that the both of them were lonely deep down. The two of them started up a brief romance, which resulted in an egg. Shortly after Frost realized she was pregnant, Flamberge was exposed, and that's of course where things ended. Flamberge was aware of the child and did genuinely care for Frost after a while, and that's when they finally began to truly evaluate their life and what they wanted to do with it.

-Marlow, Felicity, and Aisling are the only ones who know that Flamberge is Valerie's parent. Marlow was afraid of how it'd affect Valerie growing up and moved away from Treasure Town to make absolute sure no one would piece anything together. He told Valerie that her parent had simply walked out on her to discourage her from looking into them herself.

-They're bipedal actually. I don't hate Samurott's canon design or anything but it's very awkward to pose and I have more fun drawing Samurott like this. 

-They wouldn't have been a perfect parent, but they would have cared for Valerie a lot had they had the chance to be in her life. She would have been the apple of their eye.
