Qingyen

Distractibility runs in the Liu family. For Qingyen, this often involves rambling completely off topic during hairstyling appointments. In front of customers, she tries to appear cool and collected while keeping the conversation going. But she cares about doing her job well, and gets frustrated when she's any less than professional.

She's always trying to be helpful as she can—doing the accounting for the business, contacting suppliers, and other chores behind the scenes. She spends most of her time at home or hurrying around the neighbourhood, but in whatever free time she has, she likes to knit, crochet, play badminton and go shopping/partying in the city with her neighbourhood friends.

Like a fifth of the people in Helfi, Qingyen follows sailing news and is kind of fascinated by her sibling's career. How cool, getting to spend all that time up close and personal with one of the best sailors in the sport (a thought often accompanied by a dreamy sigh).

Qingyen was born in Joutien, 5 years after her sibling. By then, the family had already established their business, and she grew up surrounded by it. She was quite awestruck at the number of people who would come visit to have a haircut or dye, and grew up more than thrilled at the prospect of working with her parents.

Her sibling Anqien basically turncoated (according to the parents) when they joined a pro sailing team, and all at once she was the first candidate for taking over the family business. She did have brief dreams of doing other things, but she quickly discovered she could fit everything into her schedule.

Even though they were never all that interested in being a hairdresser (and frankly aren't very good at it), Anqien still helps around the studio from time to time. Qingyen is the only one they extend their assistance to, though.
