  DESCRIPTION   

The Torpid is a Slugcat with an interesting way of eating: instead of gaining most of its nutrition from food, it instead is able to photosynthesize using the modified Wormgrass growing out of its back. To do so, it must sleep in an area exposed directly to sunlight, which will slowly allow it to gain food pips. When The Torpid is in its photosynthesis mode, surrounding enemies will grow more passive towards it, as they will mistake it for a plant.
With no food pips, The Torpid is incredibly slow. However, as it gains more, it can about double its speed, until it is full, where it can go a little faster than a normal Slugcat. At the cost of a food pips, it is able to go about double the speed of a normal Slugcat for a few seconds, allowing it to outrun predators at the price of future movement. On top of that, it must have a full belly to sleep, and cannot hold any food over for later. It is able to digest plant matter, but for 1/4th of what it would normally give.

  PERSONALITY   

Eepy is a generally laid-back, slothful Slugcat, taking his life one step at a time. He dislikes a lot of company, and therefore stays by himself more often than not. He is a dreamer, often lost in thought thinking about the nature of life and the like-- which would likely cause him to perish, if he did not use most of his waking hours bathing in the sparse Rain World sunshine during the morning hours. While he is not the most social Slugcat, he is usually willing to hear other Slugcats out about their woes, a good wall to cry on kind of deal. He likes helping, in that way-- in any way, as long as he does not have to move too much.

  HISTORY   

The Torpid was the son of The Receiver and The Wavelength, one of their four children. He was the only Slugpup to take after his mother's Wormgrass overgrowth, although his Wormgrass did not appear to be sentient, and simply acted as an extension of his body. Due to his unique method of eating, he had to stay outside of WCV's Can as a Slugpup, sitting atop its Exterior, alone besides the Seabirds. It caused him to grow distant from his family, and therefore he was the first one to leave the nest when he grew up.
He decided to live in the peaceful Rubbish Archipelago, as there was plenty of sunlight, and not too many predators around. Not only that-- there were not many Slugcats around either, which was a major boost. That did change (there are a few Slugcats living there now), but he just tries to live without noticing them as best he can. Every so often, he will visit The Tempest (his sister) to check in on her, but that is about the limit of his adventurous nature.
