ABOUT

"A sword never kills anybody; it is a tool in the killer's hand."

With how egotistical Rigel is, it's no surprise that man got as cocky as he did when he slayed many Pokemon against the orders of the God of Craft and Artillery. In fact, he would have done it again if it was for the God that forged him weakening his power and and his current holder [Ronin] having a strong willpower against his temptation. With that aside, Rigel is a snarky, old bastard of a blade that lacks any form of a filter. It’s honestly a coin flip if you’re going to get a snarky reply or a genuine good advice from him since it can be hard to read him. Once you get to know him, you will quickly pick up when he’s being judgmental of your decisions. He is a very intelligent Pokémon especially when to the Divine. Despite being sealed by one, he still holds a deep respect for them as well as fear. He is one of the few Pokémon that truly grasp what it means to deal with a wrath of a God and survive to tell the tale. Even with how long he’s been away from the world, Rigel maintains a level of pessimism, often citing it's a "dog-eat-dog world" and sometimes you gotta do unpleasant things due to our desperation to survive. It’s that thought process allows him not to bat a eye at the thought of killing. Killing is what feed him as a small part of him still maintains the ability to consume lifeforce. However, he does not allow gluttony consume his desire to kill all to be fed.

DESIGN

Design Notes

  • While they are faint, there are yellow dashes found on the hilt of Rigel as well as a thin purple line on the blade itself.
  • Due to his pact with Ronin, he is capable of shifting forms based on Ronin's current one due to Protean.
  • As noted by his shape, Rigel is a lot larger than a regular Honedge and roughly takes the size of that of a katana.
  • Outside of some color differences with the hilt and sheath, his colors are meant to be akin to that of a shiny Pokemon.

BACKGROUND

The Fallen Blade of Atlas

There was no such thing as failure when it came to the Pawniard line espesically when it comes to Bisharp and Kingambit. As a Pawniard, it was taught to you that only the strong will survive, and one must be willing to sacrifice their body in order to take over as become one of the heads of the family and be gifted the right to hold Leader's Crest to evolve. This crest is forged by the fallen pieces of blade from formidable Bisharps and Kingambit that stand above those of the line. This crest was what Muramasa sought for as he thought that was his one chance to woo the person he loved.

Muramasa was a Bisharp that didn't stand out amongst his family and wasn't all that bothered by it. To him, that meant that he wasn't bothered by power-hungry annoyances (that he called his family members) that he known all of his life since he wasn't competitive for the Crest in their eyes. This gave him time to focus on one of his passions: fishing. However, the Bisharp was deeply in love with a Gothitelle/Gardevoir [Evelyn] from a elite clan. He had tried everything he could to woo her, only to fail. Just as he was going to move on with his life, his mother offered the suggestion of pursuing becoming a Kingambit to appeal to Evelyn through sheer power. Muramasa's mother suggestion wasn't necessary out of the tenderness of her heart. If anything, she saw it as a chance of getting power herself due to her connection to Muramasa.

Mura wouldn't see through this act of deception as his heart overtook whatever logic he had. The Bisharp would train and fight higher ranked members of his family. The beginnings of Mura's journey was a rough one. The man would be beaten constantly by those he challenged and forced himself to train harder and harder until he got his first win at the cost of his arm. When he gotten his win, something shifted in his personality. The once kindhearted man would become cocky and brutal. The man made it his mission to do whatever it takes to secure victories through severely damaging his target's body to the point they couldn't recover. However, his love for Evelyn would remain even when he managed to reach the top.

Having become one of the heads of his family, Mura was so close to recieving the fruits of his labor when he was murdered. Some random group of Pokemon attacked him in the middle of the night as he took the first rest he had in a while. While he managed to hold his own against them for some time, one stab was all it took for him to fall. With a gaping wound, he would fall into a nearby river and meet his demise. The knowledge of his accomplishment went down the drain, haunted him.

When he awoke once again, he was Rigel of Orion. He found himself in the hands of Atlas [God of Craft and Artillery]. It seemed as if bits of his soul managed to latch onto the remaining pieces on his body that haven't been stolen by the Tinkatuff Line, and the God managed to give him a second chance of life. For that, Rigel became grateful for the God and spent years learning from him and adjusting to his new body. Eventually, Rigel would leave..but not to start a new life. Oh no. He hasn't exactly gotten over his demise...and he wanted revenge. So...he hunted down the ones who killed him and tore through them. They did not allow Yveltal to even collect their souls as Rigel consumed it before that could happen. His rampage would continue...when he learned the truth.

His death was planned by both his family and Evelyn's family because they feared him.

They were right to fear him as he made it his mission to annihilate every single member of both families, using the body of one of the only remaining Pokemon that was involved in his demise. No one was spared, and those who were connected to his death received the most brutal death including the woman he loved. The massacre and the knowledge of what Rigel could do lead to Atlas stepping in for the sake of protecting the mortals he did not consider would get hurt by his weapon's rage. The God was wrathful and easily took down the God before he could move on to others. He would remove the powers he has gifted the blade and made it the case to lock him away until he felt the time was right for him to be released. Rigel was angry at first..but the anger would fade as the years went by. Soon, a level of pessimism would remain as he sits blinded by the sun in Lost Tower of Sunne.

Then a Greninja would make his appearance, and soon Rigel would find himself a new holder.

RELATIONSHIPS

Creator

Despite Atlas stripping him of his powers, Rigel is highly respectful of the God. The woman had the choice of taking away his life as she is his creator, yet she didn't. He appreciates that.

Current Holder

Ronin is one of the few holders he had that Rigel tolerates. Considering the nature of his character, that's a compliment. He just wish this guy wasn't questionable with his choices.

Holder's Strange "Partner"

Rigel doesn't know what it is about the rabbit that Ronin finds hot, but the rabbit has good taste in blood so he can't complain. They tend to have petty bickers every once in a while.

"The Rat"

If you ask Rigel what he thinks about Jasper (or the Rat as he calls him), his response would be "I'm not sure if that creature has diseases..but if he does, keep that shit away from me".

Holder's Son

Rigel is forced to be nice to Finn espesically when it comes to his fear of ghost types. As such, he does make a bit of a effort to bond him. He hates it because now Finn calls him uncle.

Holder's Son

With Haruto being both a demigod and a terrifying child, you best believe that Rigel avoids being mean to him. A bit of him does get a bit of glee of being able to see a Divine grow up.

TRIVIA

  • When it comes to Ronin using Rigel in battle, Rigel has limit Ronin to using Sacred Sword and Shadow Sneak due to those fitting Ronin’s style and not overwhelm his host with choices.
  • If Rigel had a canon voice, it would sound like this.
  • Did you know that when I first made Ronin, Rigel was why Ronin had his neck scars and what would have lead Ronin to losing his ability to speak?
  • In a previous version of Rigel’s backstory, the Latis were responsible for Rigel being weaken with Latias giving Ronin her blessing.
