In the hushed tones of wise elders and the rustle of ancient leaves, his story unfolds like a tapestry woven in darkness.
No daring soul utters his name without a shiver, for it is said that encountering him marks the beginning of a harrowing fate, a doom that clings to one's essence like a relentless shadow. Escape, if you can, from the clutches of this winged harbinger of despair. Known by some as the embodiment of death itself, he leaves a trail of ruin and anguish in the wake of every ponderous step.
His wings, mighty and blackened by the fires of ancient malice, are said to wield the very power of infernos. A mere beat can unleash a torrent of flames that devours all in its path. Beware the wrath carried upon those charred wings.
Yet, it is his tail that strikes the deepest fear into the hearts of dragons, for its touch is a malevolent symphony of paralysis. In seconds, a dragon thrice his size can find itself rendered motionless, a prisoner in its own scales.
Once a resident of the Nightwing kingdom, Calamity has become a legend, a dark parable whispered among naughty dragonets, a cautionary tale passed down through the ages. But in the shadows, his family knows the truth—they know he lingers, a specter in the periphery, a force that is being watched by vigilant eyes.

Calamity possesses sleek and sharp features, which stand in contrast to his muscular arms and large wings. His fire, eyes, and tongue provide a striking counterpoint to his dark-red scales, which exhibit an icy-blue hue. When depicting Calamity, please pay special attention to the electricity/lightning markings on the outer wings, as they can be easily overlooked. Additionally, I recommend closely studying his reference sheet.
In terms of expressions and poses when portraying him, the range can vary from highly angry and ferocious, as the legend describes him, to slightly smirky and flirty. While nearly any emotions are acceptable, please refrain from illustrating him crying, as he typically conceals his emotions from most observers.

Calamity loves watching the moons, and has been associated with them by his mate: Starfish. Starfish tells him how both he and the moons are mysterious, and that they share a connection because of Calamity's powers- which are granted by the full moons during his hatching day.
"White roses symbolize loyalty, purity, and innocence. "Since they represent these ideas, the white rose has also become the most popular flower to be seen at weddings," says Poulson. According to Poulson, they can also symbolize eternal love, a new start, and fresh beginnings."

Calamity hates fish and water, because he hates the slimy, sticky feeling he gets from both, as well as how ocean water leaves his scales feeling weird because of the saltwater. "You want me to try fish? Yeah maybe when scavengers can fly".
He has also been observed to be a little claustrophobic in places where he's unable to fully stretch his wings (ex. the Rainforest). Calamity loves flying, since it has been his favourite activity to do with his late mom. Both having major Skywing genes these two would fly for hours without resting!

Childhood

On Calamity’s hatching day, his father: Agonybringer, as well as his mother: Lanternfly, threw a huge party. A magical night on two full moons, his parents had a great future planned for him. For the first two years, their life was like a dream… but every dream must end, and theirs did by Lanternfly’s tragic death. A year later, Agonybringer found a new mate, a mystery Icewing banished from her tribe, and so Calamity’s sister was born: Serenity, the heir to the Nightwing throne. Calamity and Serenity never got along well, because while Serenity tried to bond with her half-brother, Calamity still was mourning his mother’s death.
Teenhood

As a teen, Calamity and Serenity only grew farther apart. Serenity was being trained on how to be a good queen for her kingdom in the future, while Calamity didn’t exist in his father’s eyes anymore, this made him go mad. His first victim was a Nightwing, one who deserved to be burned down in Calamity’s eyes. Somehow, this made him seen by his father again, he was proud of his son- appreciating how Lanternfly’s Hivewing and Skywing genes made their son a living weapon. But Calamity wouldn’t fall for his father’s façade, being able to read his mind- read his evil plan for Calamity to help him and Serenity gain the power they needed to fully rule over the kingdom of Night, Calamity stormed off- never returning to that kingdom ever again.
Adulthood

Calamity has been living quite the perfect carefree life ever since leaving the kingdom of the Night. Flying everywhere he wants to, being anywhere he feels like being, but all that ended after he met this peculiar Sand-Seawing… what a strange creature she was, not understanding who he really was, not using the same nickname dragons have given him after the years. After some time, his relationship with the yellow fish dragon really developed into something more. As of right now, he’s still staying away from the Nightwing kingdom, yet this time around with some company.
When drawing Calamity and being unsure about in what setting to draw him, you can always draw him with an eclipse, moon, or the blood moon in the background. Thunderstorms would work just as well, but daylight settings aren’t really his thing. His common expressions would be something dangerous or charming, but I would love to see some horror pieces of him made as well.
His info in the box above can be used in drawings as well, especially the pearl & white rose combo, as it’s the opposite of his aesthetic.
