Are monsters born, or made?

Dante was born a human. His Mother was from old money, an heiress to a life of leisure. His Father was an arms manufactuerer and distributor who didn't discriminate between his clients. The majority of his money was made during a major war that happened only 12 years before Dante was born.

Much of Dante's awful personality is a result of his upbringing. He was raised to be a looming capitalist overlord, and he strives to be just that and then some. He aims to be better than his Father could ever be. Dante is a master at deal-making and is charismatic (or ruthless) enough to get what he wants.

He rationalized that he could use a tool his Father was too afraid to use, the occult. He became a dhampir as a means to reach heights no one dare dreamed. In doing so, he reintroduced vampirism into the modern world. This was an exchanged he cared little for.

Even though Dante is awful, I wanted him to get redeemed and run away from his wealth with Fyodor because I love happy endings.

Arc One

Dante was born [REDACTED] Salazar on December 31st. Dante showed signs of being transgender very early in life and his parents decided to allow him to transition (his Mother felt no disproval but his Father did, but allowed Dante to transition anyway as a way to get to Dante should he fail him). Dante's Father groomed him into being the heir to the Salazar estate. He received private schooling from a tutor and his Father would teach him about running the family business (arms manufacturing). However, his Father would often discipline Dante harshly if he failed in his teachings in any way. Dante was taught at a very early age that the accumulation of wealth and power, no matter the cost, was of the utmost importance. Through the years of severe treatment from his Father , he had one friend, the son of one of his family's wealthiest clients, Prince Fyodor Khilkov.

Arc Two

Fyodor and Dante fell in love with one another but stayed quiet about it. However, on Dante's 18th birthday, Fyodor pulled Dante away from the party and confessed his feelings. Fyodor would often vacation with Dante or visit him when his parents went on business trips. The affair went on for 5 years, until Dante's parents arrived from a business trip prematurely and found them in bed together. Fyodor was thrown out of the house, the affair covered up, and Dante prohibited from ever seeing Fyodor again.

Arc Three

The pressure and scrutiny from his Father drastically increased after he found out about Dante's affair with Fyodor. This added pressure and constant criticism broke Dante. He was on a steady downward spiral, beginning to obssess over his place in the world, wealth, and privilege. At a party between a few clients, one man gave Dante a book of magic as a gift to the young heir. Inspired by his Father's own teachings of attaining power through any means, Dante viewed magic as his way of surpassing his Father's glory. In the dead of night, Dante summoned a monster. The monster he summoned reintroduced vampirism of all kinds back into the modern world in exchange for giving Dante his powers, turning him into a dhampir in the process. When the ritual ended, his parents discovered Dante. His Father went into a fit of rage, telling Dante of his plans to disown him. He made an offhand comment about how he would have another son to take over his business. In his own fit of anxiety and rage, Dante tore his Mother's womb from her body using dark magic in order to insure that he would be the only legitimate heir to the Salazar estate. His relationship with his Mother and Father is now incredibly strained, but he has cemented his place as his Father's heir.

Notes

• Fyodor is a 6'4" half elf, half orc.
• Dante deeply regrets harming his Mother in such a severe way, and views his action as another consequence of his Father's teachings. (He's,, very unwell mentally)
• The monster Dante summoned was an aswang. I created an AU where he summons a mananangal instead.
• Dante is still in love with Fyodor.
