"Sorry darlings, Daddy's gonna be away for a few days. Now you two be good to your Nanny, I'll make sure to bring somethin' cool back home for ya'll."

"Promise."
~~~
 His hit leaves behind a familiar warm feeling of blood staining his skin. His arms covered in blood splattered from the heavy impact of the broad axe he conveniently picks up. He continues to drown his fingers into the wound, to dig into the gashing wound that was large enough to kill his target alone through blood loss. Thankfully, what he needed was the flash drive that the target held close to him obsessively. And despite all that blood, the drive was still intact and functional. For a brief respite he takes a breather, peering into the bathroom mirror in front of him. His hair tie had fallen off, leaving a section of his hair tipped in the same blood. He's a mess. But he was so used to it.
 He never expected to come back to his line of work. Without having to worry about them.
 Ruby and Jasper, his two beloved children. They don't deserve to know what their dad goes through. And they don't ever deserve what hell they went through.
His clear reflection shows the intensity of the aftermath of his own horror. Such eyes were enough to scare children away and make infants cry. A man like him could not be walking around seen like this. So he slips on a pair of aviators to hide them away.
He emerges out of the mansion quietly, with no one to witness his work. His phone buzzes as he sits in the driver's seat of his truck and picks it up as if nothing happened.
"I see the work has been done, Redd," his distorted voice buzzes through the speaker. "I'll pinpoint the drop off. ...And I've got a meal waiting for you."
"I'll see to it, gramps."
He drives off, engine sputtering with no one else around him to hear it.
About
Personality
74286681_cuIKFGOajEEdXFA.pngIn the unforgiving world of his profession, he wears a cloak of natural coldness and brooding intensity. His demeanor, as frosty as the shadows that surround him, is a testament to the harsh realities he's faced as a freelancing hitman. On the job, he exudes a chilling aura, navigating the darkest corners with a steely resolve that matches the frigid edge of his gaze. Preying on his target, he is malicious and apathetic. Terrifying. Yet, when it comes to communication, Redd's speech is a big departure from the professional formalities one might expect. Laidback and casual, his words flow like a slow, meandering river. There's a nonchalance to his tone, as if he's seen it all and learned to dance with danger in a way that renders fear inconsequential. He pretends to not care about the warnings heeded to him, only because he's aware of them.
However, beneath the stoic exterior lies a man who, under the right circumstances, can open up like a well-worn book. Establishing rapport is the key, and those who respect his privacy find themselves welcomed into the more human side of Maverick Redd Boone. In those moments, his demeanor shifts, revealing glimpses of a person who can connect effortlessly with others, sharing stories, laughter, and perhaps a drink or two.
With his kids Ruby and Jasper, Maverick transforms into the quintessential bright-eyed father, his heart worn on his sleeve. Doting and worrisome, he becomes a pillar of warmth and protection, shielding them from the shadows that define his own existence. In these moments, the cold, calculated hitman fades into the background, giving way to a man whose love for his children knows no bounds. He tries to not speak about his line of work, worried that the subject alone would defile and stain the innocence of his beloved kids.
Backstory
Born into the shadows of adversity, his childhood was a far cry from bright, marked by the loss of his mother and the perilous refuge he sought in the room of his deceased aunt. With an abusive, drunken father rendering his home unsafe, Maverick found himself thrust into the unforgiving arms of foster care.
Raised without the nurturing warmth of love, Redd's formative years were a haphazard mosaic of odd jobs, both legal and illicit. His struggle to find purpose led him down a dark path, revealing a chilling truth – a lack of affinity for human life. It was a revelation that shaped his destiny, propelling him into a profession where morality danced on the edge of a blade. He lived in an office that hosted the projects of killing people. Though, overtime he picks and chooses contracts when he had more experience, realizing that Maverick wasn't entirely cold and still held a residual bit of his ethical life in him.
The turning point in Maverick's life came when a job went awry, costing him a leg at a tender age. Nursed back to health by a compassionate nurse, love blossomed in the unlikeliest of places. However, the tendrils of his perilous occupation wrapped around their relationship, and he continued to walk the razor's edge between life and death, his prosthetic limb no hindrance to the merciless path he tread.
The tragic night when his only family, became the target of vengeful survivors shattered the semblance of normalcy Redd had fought to build. Rushing to their aid, he discovered the grim aftermath – his wife murdered, and his eldest, Ruby, cruelly mutilated, her legs forever stolen. But Jasper, who was only a newborn at the time, remained unscathed. The weight of grief and responsibility forced him into an abrupt retirement from his deadly profession, as he became the sole protector of his shattered family.
With a resolve born from anguish, Redd moved his children away, distancing them from the shadows that threatened their existence. The money he once earned through bloodshed now served a nobler purpose – ensuring the safety and well-being of his kids. A year later, fate knocked on his door in the guise of Grandfather, offering a chance at redemption within the clandestine realm of the Prodigal.
Trivia
  • 74286692_RX8dim23E35iZAd.pngMaverick is known as First Agent Redd, using his middle name as his new identity.
    > He's not exactly considered the very first Agent that worked for Grandfather, the overseer of the Prodigal. Has hired several independent workers to do his bidding prior to Boone's employment.
    > He's the first man to be hired as an Agent, directly affiliated to work for the Prodigal.
    > Being First out of the five Agents, Maverick's employee is only the beginning to the formation of the Private Agents. However, the Private Agent title never existed until later in the Prodigal timeline.
    > Being the first of the Agents, both the other agents and even the Administration members refer to him as "Chief."
  • Has a prosthetic left leg. He lost his leg (knee down) due to an "accident" in his former independent hitman position days.
    > Although it was recommended by the doctor, and his wife (who was also a nurse) that he uses a cane to help him. He absolutely refuses to do so.
    > He has a slight limp to his movement. A slight. Unless watched closely, Maverick acts and moves as if he never had a prosthetic in the first place.
  • Has two darling children: Ruby and Jasper. He is unfortunately a widow, his wife was killed a couple years back.
    > Ruby suffers from the loss of her legs due to them being mutilated. It was only a miracle that she managed to survive. Although she's comfortable using her wheelchair, her father still carries her around in his arms so she wouldn't feel left out in many of her childhood experiences.
    > Jasper is in his toddler phase and could barely walk. Because Maverick doesn't want Jasper to feel left out, he has a baby carrier that lugs Jasper around so that he could carry both of his kids.
  • Very self conscious about his eyes. Wears aviators or shades to cover them.
    > His eyes, indeed has scared children and makes babies cry. Even his own kids, sometimes.
    > Has at least 6 pairs of the same glasses in his truck. And none of them are in his glove compartment.
  • He doesn't just do hits only. He's having to run around back and fourth between him and the Administration.
    > "It's fucking EXHAUSTING, he can eat shit!"
    > Gets upset every time Grandfather jumps between different locations in a span of an hour.
  • Because of his position, he is close to Grandfather, the Prodigal Overseer.
    > Lovingly calls him "Gramps" instead of the official "Grandfather"
    > Every mission done, he always heads to the reporting site or a drop off station, where Grandfather waits for him there. Unless in danger, his boss moves elsewhere (which annoys him). Usually Grandfather likes to ask for forgiveness by providing him a fresh plate of food. Which... Maverick is fine with.
    > Has seen Grandfather's inhuman side. He swears to people that they shouldn't fuck with him, even himself.
    > When on the job, he's with him to the hip for a couple of days if he's not out doing a mission. Until the Second Agent comes through, he gets to go home to spend time with his kids.
  • Has always driven a truck. He currently drives a 2016 silver Tacoma truck that he lovingly names "Lola."
    > Lola is also named after an old nanny that loves to care of her kids. Ruby and Jasper love Lola, and he will literally kill for Lola (the nanny).
    > The truck bed has nothing else but gardening and tool equipment. But the equipment is only a guise to certain illegal firearms and weapons. His preferred weapon is an axe. And he doesn't know how to garden.
  • Since the Arbiter resides in coastal city of Southern California, it was suggested that Maverick would move his children there to ensure their safety.
    > He doesn't mind it, really. Really loves to fish on the docks.
Relationships
Grandfather, "Gramps"  [ Boss ]
He was fine being a retired hitman and working honestly, in exchange for his children's safety. But apparently that was a lie, according to Grandfather. Redd has been in "Gramp's" radar for a bit and has reached out to him in person to invite the ex-assassin into the Prodigal as one of his own. When he trusted that Grandfather would protect his children and pay him for his job, there was no questions asked.
Maverick doesn't care what his real name is. He's still gonna call him Gramps regardless. But he's aware of the demonic, inhumane side to him. He saw for a moment in the middle of a raid in one of his (many) offices, and it has personally scared him shitless. But otherwise, they've gotten to each other's good sides. As long as he's paid, promised, and fed, then Grandfather gets his protection and his cooperation until he's too old to work.
[Second Agent] Maroon  [ Coworker ]
There's literally no life or soul on this man, according to Maverick. Trying to talk to him is like talking to a rock. Agent Redd has no idea if Maroon hates him, or is indifferent. But for sure, Agent Maroon doesn't really like him. Or maybe it's the other way around? At least as long as he's present, that means Maverick gets to go home to see his kids since he's there to relieve him!
But if he's still on the job, Maverick will make excuses to Grandfather, in hopes he wouldn't have to go on a mission together with his coworker. It's not just boring working with him, but their cooperation turns into competition. Both of their bloodlusts gets in the way of each other, trying to pick at each other's kills before the other.
Ender[ Bartender ]
Gramps has spoken about this place. He says that this bar serves honorable, hard working old men like him. But when he gets there, he realizes he's surrounded by "the most clean-freaked, uptight, and prideful" pricks that he's ever met. He really did not belong there.
But he liked Ender. Ender was quiet. Ender at least listens to him and serves him a good old fashioned! Though... drinking a couple of them leaves him drunk enough that he's seeing through a filter. And he swore he dyed his hair last week; why is he still getting grey hairs?!
Maximille  [ The Other Boss, but not really ]
This fella absolutely sucks.
Not only he's an uptight prick like the rest of the people in the bar, but he's an absolute pain. He's mean! People in the Administration were all supposed to be nice and kind, but this one is the complete opposite. Maverick prefers that Grandfather sends a message through a physical letter instead of word of mouth. Only so that when he drops it off a message for Maximille, he wouldn't have to speak to him.
But despite he's supposed to be working for Gramps directly, being a Prodigal Agent gives him no choice but to also answer to Maximille's calls. Even if he doesn't like him, he will still do his job to protect the Administration if needed.
