Chalk drawing on asphalt of a smiling sun.
Chalk drawing on asphalt of a smiling sun.

I don't know specifically what day she was born. She hatched many times, probably, between 2007 and 2008, when I was 12 or 13 years old. Every time I was in a classroom at school, paying attention to nothing but looking out the window at the sunrise, Nethamet was born from an egg made of orange sunshine, a fried egg, an imaginary breakfast to keep me awake. Sort of. And she would hatch again at some point throughout the afternoon, when I'd watch the treetops sway in a breeze that would surely be super relaxing, while I was bored to the point of melting, at some class of something I had no interest in. There Nethamet would fly away again, like an autumn leaf, with no weight, no anxieties, no problems, no worries about failing exams, no homework or stressing teamwork. She was off to explore other worlds, of course.

Nethamet in this Side B is the condensation of sunlight: the golden, creative and healing heartbeat of the White Desert, and also the dreamy cloud-breather of circuses and eutopias. She is extraordinarily shy and in a kinda wild sense, but she's also kind, curious and annoyingly proud most of the time. She does have an odd name... I heard it whispered by the wind once.

Notes

🌞 Her animal form is inspired by waterfall swifts.
🌞 Her other animal form is inspired by Fújur from the Neverending Story.
🌞 She has the aura of a sun and at the same time she is an eclipse in my imaginary world.
🌞 In my dreams she usually makes imperial entrances and likes to be seen but not directly (without drawing attention to herself).
🌞 She smells like a talcum powder of cold flowers, like a pink silk of fresh, luminous oxygen floating in outer space.
🌞 It's very odd to me, but she has the ability to exist without contractures.

She has always tended to wear very colorful clothes or no clothes at all. But she is a cellin, and although they are very relaxed in terms of gender, in their culture the males are the ones who tend to wear a lot of colorful clothes, while the females wear rather simple and pale-colored clothes (cellins are inspired by birds).

Photo collage of clothes, haircuts, flowers, a solar eclipse, a sunrise on the beach and clouds, representing Nethamet's style.

Nethamet devotes energy to her clothes and space because it's something she finds not only fun, but also important. That's not to say she's always careful about it. Somewhat to the contrary, her space is messy and the amount of information available is often a bit overwhelming, but in a more "friendly" or "pleasant" sense than the clutter of, say, Gabriel or Vin. Nethamet's clutter is rather cute and colorful, like a flood of stuffed animals (of which, by the way, she is very fond of).

Personality

Her presence feels like sunlight warming your face on a very cold day, though sometimes she also feels like sunlight streaming in through the half-open window of a comfortably dark and hidden room. Her kindness is not always welcome, because it is sometimes somewhat sharp, and her rich sensitivity (perhaps the most sensitive of my characters) is often like a summer heat wave of self-conscious intensities. Her shyness is not much like the shyness of people, it is closer to the cautious shyness of a fox or a bird, her distrust is like a claw in her star-shaped pupils, but she is able to let her guard down with time, even when I manage to get too close, it only takes time and patience.

Although she was always nomadic and free, in Side B she lives more or less constantly in the Floating Islands, very close to where Trece lives (they work in a sort of symbiosis), where both have the ability to heal, Nethamet being responsible for the most fun and enjoyable part, such as artistic expression. That is because she is deeply creative and empathic, and close to the golden dragons of this universe, who carry in their jaws traveling circuses (kinda like how crocodiles transport their young), they all inhale sense of humor and exhale wisdom for life, always inside their armor of pride (too hot to touch because of the sunlight).

Story

Screenshot of Bart Simpson naked in sunglasses, drinking soda on the grass surrounded by comics and his stuff.

At some point in my corner of the Internet I said, half jokingly half seriously, that Nethamet was born as my Mary Sue. I think that's only partially true, because according to Wikipedia's definition of "Mary Sue", that type of character usually has a tragic past "that will endear her to others, sometimes gratuitously". Well, that's not the case with Nethamet. She was always fine. Because if at some point she lost the ability to return to her physical body (cellins have the ability to leave their body quite easily), or if she was absolutely alone, trapped on a floating island by a terrible accident... those events (and others of the cloudy style) were transferred to other Sides. Nethamet on this Side B doesn't usually have any serious difficulties, she's like a personification of the idea of vacations, not to mention that she has a natural amount of good luck that overflows from time to time to her reflections of the other two Sides.

The Floating Islands

In one of the oldest dreams in which I remember meeting Nethamet, I was lying on a meadow, looking at a very cloudy sky, when a heavy rope fell from the sky. A group of mice in grenadier suits climbed down it (maybe someone reading this will be familiar with it...), tied the rope to me like a harness, and lifted me up into the clouds. The trip was really uncomfortable. By the time I reached the place where they were taking me, to Nethamet's ship that was hidden in the clouds, I had already crossed the dense leaden sky, and I could barely see through a silvery haze. Nethamet greeted me looking very much like Howl from the Wandering Castle (yeah she was actually a guy).

I don't feel like going into details of how the Floating Islands thing works in Side B (not only is it supposed to be very complex, but I can't remember it right now, I'd have to go through folders and diaries, and it wouldn't really add anything to the story of Nethamet as an inhabitant of my imaginary world). But I wanted to leave this video I just found, as if to give you a visual idea of what this character's home looks like (a green meadow with flowers, just take out those trees in the background, and imagine clouds moving fast in their place, flocks of birds, dragons hanging around from time to time, and the occasional hogdog). It's a place that makes you want to run around a lot, but you have to be careful, because the land ends suddenly and abruptly!
