Personality
| Paternal and caring by nature, Birchnest was even named for how protective he was over his clanmates. Unfortunately, after losing nearly everyone who meant the most to him and the clan itself, Birchnest grew depressed, and started to resent his only daughter for her previous addictions that may have hindered her from saving her brothers and friend. He feels the strong desire to start his life over, he just is not sure how.

History
| Birchnest was a well-liked SurfClan warrior who prided himself in defending his weaker clanmates. He really enjoyed the role of father, mentor, and caretaker, finding purpose in raising the future warriors of the clan, and having strong community bonds. He was convinced he would be successful in this, and for the most part, was. He encouraged his children to be friends with his apprentice, since he knew she had no one to rely on, and was very mindful when training her. Unfortunately, once she got her warrior name, her and his sons were killed by rogues. His surviving daughter, Swallowfur, felt a lot of guilt over being the only one to survive, and later admitted to being on too many poppyseeds to be effective. Birchnest wanted another litter, but Silverdream said she wasn't ready, hesitant to experience that loss over again. Less than a couple years later, after many battles, his mate died of random food poisoning, and less than a year after that, the clans disbanded. His spirit broken, he joined OceanClan while his daughter joined WaveClan, wanting to have some distance for a while. He regretted it quickly, as the clans were hostile towards each other, but he wasn't sure what to do after his fellow ex-SurfClanners left without him.
