About

Blunt • Driven • Unexpressive • Earnest

Born and raised in a cult worshipping the Lord of the Woods, Lu has always believed the world will end in the awakening of the Old Ones. In an effort to avoid this seemingly imminent fate, Lu stole an ancient text from her cult and fled. Seeking aid, she decided to contact one of the oldest witch families in the country, hoping they would be able to interpret the text and give her an actionable path forward.

Lu is to-the-point and not very expressive, though she frequently fidgets with her hands. She has difficulty reading tone and tends to take people's words at face value, unless she has reason to distrust them.

Summary

All life exists to die and be nourishment for the Lord of the Woods - this is what Lu was taught since the day she came into the world. The Cult of the Mother, servitors to the One with a Thousand Young, have always been Lu's home and family; thus, she has grown up in service to the deity, expected to do her part to bring Her fully manifest to Earth. This would be the end of the world as it is known, but such an ending (by one deity or another) is inevitable in the eyes of the cult and many others.

Lu spent her early childhood in full belief of her cult's practices. If the world is to end regardless, better to live on as a part of the Mother and be nutrients for Its children than to die pointlessly and be erased by any other god (so she was taught). However, she grew dissatisfied with this view as she aged as well as with her role in the planned apocalypse. Deep in her heart, she held a dim ember of hope for the future.

When she began hearing talk of plans by the Cult of the Dreamer to bring about the imminent awakening of their sleeping god, she decided to act on that faint hope. Though sorry to leave her sister behind, she stole an ancient tome from her family's library that she hoped would contain clues to stopping the awakening of an Old One and fled the cult of her upbringing. Unable to interpret the text on her own, she decided to seek help from one of the old witch families of the Republic - and, following the rumors of hauntings in Banehill, she had confidence she could find what remained of the Mawwa family in that old and "cursed" Witch House.

Relationships

Solakk

She appreciates Solakk's (albeit reluctant) agreement to assist her. Lu understands him when he speaks of inevitability - though she enjoys his company more when he begins rambling on a topic he has knowledge in, as seeing him light up with eagerness makes her feel a little less hopeless for the both of them.

Marris

Lu feels indebted to Marris but has had difficulty connecting with her - what Marris says is often not what she means, and she deflects when asked questions that would clarify. However, when Marris takes it on herself to teach Lu a new fact or skill, Lu can't help but find herself attached to the other.
