About

Languid • Secretive • Anxious • Loyal

A homeless beggar from the city of Clearmont, Qachittivech (Qavech for short) is always in and out of jobs and mainly gets by playing her flute on street corners for food, pocket change, and alcohol. He rarely speaks of his past, though his occasional psychosis and fits of depression lead most to assume it wasn't pleasant, to say the least. Qavech is known by many people in the city but is only particularly close to a younger coyote named Ais who often listens to her music.

Qavech is often laidback, not seeming to take things as seriously as others think he should. She has an unusually extensive knowledge of the occult.

"There's not...a future, for me. Hasn't been since - well, since a long time ago. But you? You've got a life to live, if you'll let yourself live it."

Summary

Qavech spent her early adulthood as a drifter, moving from place to place looking for work and several fresh starts. He was a good worker, most of the time - punctual and thorough. Yet, incident after incident drove him out of employment and eventually to the next town when recognition became too much for her to bear. When thinking with a clear mind, she knew what she saw in her bouts wasn't real, knew that the pain in her right eye was just a distant memory, and knew too that darkness was not itself something alive and threatening. Knowing, however, meant nothing in the face of fear. After years of continued breakdowns and lost jobs, Qavech fell into depression and turned to drink, if only to dull the edge of thought.

By chance, she settled in Clearmont. There was nothing special about the city near the mountains, no opportunity that kept her; it was the place where she decided to give up chasing a new life, and nothing more. Never able to keep a stable job, Qavech survived off temporary work and the uncertain generosity of strangers. For the next few years, her only friends were her old flute and the bottle - until Ais arrived in Clearmont.

The young coyote was also without a home, and found Qavech playing his flute on the street corner. She stopped to listen, many times, and later made conversation. Within a few months, they had become a pair - while Ais often disappeared to do her own "work", she always came back to Qavech in the end. It is this bond that drags Qavech out of tired routine; when Ais decides to stick her nose into the business of some newcomers to the city, Qavech feels he has little choice but to follow her.

• All of her clothing is threadbare and he frequently has to mend it

• Whiskers are crooked and fur is generally unkempt

• Likes both masculine and feminine clothing, but tends toward masculine for societal convenience

Trivia

• Left-handed

• Based on his voice and demeanor, people often assume he is older than he is

• Nyctophobic

• Fairly weak and without much endurance, but quick when she needs to be

Relationships

Maeek

Despite the drastic differences in their demeanors, Qavech sees some of herself in Maeek - particularly, the grouse's steadfast avoidance of her own feelings. He tries to connect with her, but often only succeeds in becoming the subject of Maeek's ire.

Raffi

He recognized Raffi's ill health soon after meeting it and was the first to decide to help, leading to a connection between the two. Qavech gave Raffi its name and feels a certain protectiveness towards it, despite it being much stronger and more imposing than her.
