Fennas Dunne: The brother

Ava is Fennas seven years younger sister. Their relationship is rather tensed since Fennas resents his sister a lot. He sees her as the trigger, from which everything in his life somehow turned bad. He knows it's not really Ava's fault, that, for example, his parents decided to leave Ireland and move to England. But without her being born everything might have been different. 

While Ava grew up as a lively young woman, not having many problems with adapting to her new life in England, Fennas became more and more depressed. Besides his resenting, he began to deeply envy his sister for her insouciance. But since Ava was only two years old, when the family left Ireland, she spends the majority of her life in England and basically knew nothing else. And so - as said before - Fennas couldn't really blame her for being so enthusiastic and he knew that his behavior was selfish and dump, which made him even angrier. 

The further Fennas spiraled down, the more their parents began to praise Ava and compare him to his sister. Her grades were better. She made more efforts in socializing herself. She participated in extracurricular activities. She voluntarily helped out in the household. She was more approachable. More enthusiastic. More eager to experience new things. All in all - Ava seemed to try harder in life than her older brother. This constant comparison infuriated Fennas above all and he got into heavy arguments with his parents. It hurt Fennas' ego, that, despite him being the older sibling, Ava was the more "successful" one. All of this lead to him acting rather unapproachable towards his sister and trying to avoid her presence as often as possible. 

It didn't really help either, that Ava simply adored her older brother and tried everything to gain his trust. Despite her trying to hide it, he also noticed, how heavily she blamed herself for not being able to prevent his suicide attempt by seeing the signs beforehand. The incident somehow cooled down Fennas' temper and made him less resentful. It made him feel really guilty, that Ava of all people had to find him. And it is also one of the reasons, Fennas decided to move out, while Ava wasn't at home. He couldn't stand her worried sight.

(He hasn't contacted her since he left home and ignored all of her calls, but I am playing around with a sibling reunion.)

HEADCANON TIME

She is a very athletic person. Probably doing some kind of track and field.

Ava adores her brother. The siblings have a strong but complicated relationship. Fennas blames Ava for having to move, even tho he knows this is stupid since she was too young to have any active saying in that matter. Ava feels sorry for apparently having caused such trouble and made it her mission to make up for it in whatever way possible. Which in reverse makes Fennas feel uncomfortable for influencing his sister's life that strongly. He simply wants her to move on and be happy.  

Ava is a lesbian. She fell for her best childhood friend and luckily they liked her back. 

The siblings used to share a bedroom.

Their mom is a very strict and overbearing person with high expectations. When talking her emphasis is often on belittling and fault-finding. Especially when it comes to Fennas. In her eyes he is the "bad child". Ava has it easier since she is a natural people-pleaser. This leads to the siblings getting compared quite often - to highlight positive/negative behaviour. Their father on the other hand is a friendly and soft-spoken guy, who loves his children equally. He is a bit muddle-headed tho, which is why he never got that involved into the upbringing of his kids.
