The Everlys were and still are a very powerful witch bloodline but unfortunately a lot of their ancient signature spells were lost in time. A few thousand years ago the pillars of the Everly family of the time were cursed, along with their immediate family. Nyx and her brother were both cursed for refusing to share their magical knowledge with the other witch families, to live forever without magic. They were the first vampires. Their spouses and children were given a death curse but of course, some of them found a way out of it. This is when it was discovered vampires can turn others! Nyx's husband died before this was figured out but the children were turned in time. Nyx had identical twins Tye and Alessia, her brother only had one son.

Tye was into manipulation magic, seeking to manipulate people's looks and bodies. He didn't get very far with it before the curse but he did figure out some semi-decent healing magic. He has some nasty scars on his chest from doing some surgery to himself with a regular knife and healing magic. Didn't work as planned but he didn't die and the scars are kinda faded so he counts it as a success! Healing magic was the only thing that made this ancient top surgery survivable and unfortunately that magic died off with him after he turned. He has zero interest in teaching the witches who wanted him dead the magic he discovered himself! Even modern times he's pretty nasty to those witch's descendants.

His mother is pretty much known as the vampire queen so he goes by a bunch of different aliases through the years to be 'undercover' around the witches. The modern witches know him as Sebastian Evers and they sure do hate him! He really has a temper, especially around witches, but likes to be all up in their business all the time. Messing with artifacts, hiding important stuff, messing up their spells; basically being a menace and taking out his anger about pretty much being murdered on those witch's descendants constantly.

Tye does have a huge secret he's been keeping, even from his family. He ran off for a few years to experiment with magic but also had his own kids. The curse on his family didn't reach them because the witches could only cast on the family members they knew existed. He always had a temper and stormed off to nobody knew where for months at a time so when he disappeared constantly nobody thought much of it, even after being turned. He's kept his descendants out of Skye and a secret from both the witches and vampires somehow. His children, Freya and Elijah, help him out with this. Tye turned them when they were older and had their own families at their request and helped keep everything a secret. The Everly bloodline is known as his uncle's legacy and he's VERY proud of that, Tye's afraid if he figures out that's not all true there might be some kill orders floating around. Various descendants of Tye's have chosen to become vampires at certain points of their lives but most stayed as witches. They haven't learned any healing magic to avoid bringing suspicion to them. Even for those outside of Skye, using unusual magic brought on the attention of the main witch families.
