"Write a quote here....."

She rarely ever goes by her full name, everyone calls her either Q or Quin.

Q ends up dealing with the city's favorite vampire couple a lot, especially the older one. Sebastian is a handful and has a very long term grudge against witches, specifically the founding family lines. Nobody knows why because he never talks about it but it always causes issues for Q. She's in charge of the witches because she's the best at keeping the vampire problem to a minimum, creating the least mysterious deaths in the city in a very long time. Eventually she finds a way to cure Sebastian's supernatural anger issues but before that she just does a lot of damage control.

Sebastian and Vampires

Q has the joy of dealing with Sebastian almost every night. At least she has the days free since he's the last ancient vampire cursed with burning in sunlight. She dreads completely cloudy days though, no sunlight means he can wander free. Most of the time he acts like a pest who feels the need to constantly bother the witches and get in their way. Everyone knows he has a grudge against them but usually he takes that out in very irritating, petty ways. Until they really make him mad, then he takes off a few heads and snacks on some members of the coven. One of the main reasons the coven hasn't fully turned on him is because he is the single resource to thousands of years of magical knowledge. He also constantly holds over their heads the fact he knows where the missing grimoirs and journals of their history are. He never delivers on this so nobody knows if he's telling the truth but over the years no witch has found any other leads. He has always made witch business his business so Q knows for a fact he at least has a thousand or so years of spells tucked away somewhere. Sometimes he gives her some bits and pieces, usually after he was especially nasty and killed her witches. He can't control his supernatural anger, its an ancient vampire curse. But he really doesn't want to be killed in his sleep by a witch so he bargains valuable magical knowledge for safety. He may be an extremely powerful vampire but a whole coven of witches could easily trap him.

Eventually, with the help of the rest of the coven, Q figures out a spell that removes the side effects of an ancient vampire and binds it to a ring she gives to Sebastian. With the ring he's basically a new generation vampire and his anger issues dissolve. He becomes more like how he was in life, which is much more manageable to everyone. He was a more timid, anxious, highly stressed person in life so that creates its own problems but at least nobody's being murdered for looking at him wrong. He works along with Q a bit better like this, he's always trusted her but still doesn't like the other witches much. He does give her one of the missing grimoirs he claimed to have as a gift after recieving the ring. Its not the history Q really wanted out of him but it was one of the lost grimoirs witches have been hunting for generations. She's pretty sure he knows where all the lost pieces of the founding family's history is and someday she will get it out of him.

Jules is a lot easier to deal with than Sebastian. He's pretty nice and usually helps Q try and do damage control after his slightly unpredictable husband loses control and goes on a killing spree. Jules is an old generation vampire so he doesn't have that nasty supernatural anger curse going on, he's the same temperament as he was when he was alive. He does have a reputation for faking being a witch and scamming regular humans who don't know the true supernatural world. He's done that trick since before his death, he's just better at it now with his vampire abilities. He causes some trouble of his own with Q but usually its a simple fix, like convincing him to return the spells and enchanted items he swindled from some young witches.

Founding Families

The founding family lines began with the first witches to exist. They were the most powerful, being pure witches. As generations were created the family's strength faded to an amount that leveled off for future generations. Pure witches were the most powerful to create a balance between the other supernatural forces. They were the protection of the humans, the stronger the unnatural forces the stronger the forces against it. After the fall of the ancient vampires, there was no need for all witches to have as much power as the pure witches. After the founding family witches created lives with regular humans when the vampire threat lessened, their children were no longer pure witches. Despite their power weakening, these families will always be the most powerful witch families because of their origin. They're still powerful enough to take on vampires, just not ancient ones on their own. Fortunately there aren't many of those left.

The founding families still rule over the city's supernatural factions. They're the most powerful force in the city, even more powerful than the vampire who rules the city itself. But going against him would cause a lot of chaos and death none of the witches want so they give him his space, he does have a lot of vampires living in the city too. There are 8 founding family lines, some more powerful than others: Everly, Lancaster, Carlyle, Ceran, Oakes, Dryden, Hayes, and Garrick.

The Everly line is the most powerful with the unfortunate curse on their first borns. Their first borns have more power than a pure witch but their magic usually overwhelms them and tears them apart at an early age. The only way to save the child without risking their life is to give them a special enchanted stone to absorb and take away their magic. They may learn to balance their magic at a later time in their lives but live most of their life, if not all of it, without magic and attached to the stone. Its put in a piece of jewelry they have to wear constantly, taking it off risks their life. This family line is also easily identified by a birthmark on their left arm in the vague shape of a bird. Any Everly born a witch has this.

The Lancaster family originally brought the coven together and had the most pull. The most influential member married an Everly so the pull transferred to that family line for a few generations. Eventually the Lancaster line regains their power and becomes the main force in the coven again.

Famous Witches

The most famous witch in this coven's history is Bastion Everly. Part of why he's so famous is the mystery surrounding him: nobody in the modern coven knows what happened to him. He was one of the founders and the first adult first born Everly in history. Nobody knew how but he was the one who created the enchanted stone spell to save future first born Everlys, along with most spells the coven uses. His grimoirs and journals were never found, witches all around the world spend years trying to track them down. He was one of the most brilliant witches to exist, creating more spells in his 28 years than witches do in a whole lifetime. After that he just disappeared without a trace and nobody knows why. Nobody knows anything about his life either. Creating so many spells in such a short time, was it desperation or just being a genius? The fact he's left such an imprint after two thousand years is impressive. The sheer amount of spells they have from him without even glimpsing his lost grimoirs is also impressive.

Jocelyn Everly is also a monument in witch history, because of her they have a lot of anti vampire spells and protections. She didn't write in any journals but she left a very helpful grimoir to the coven at her death. She was Bastion Everly's mother. She was only an Everly by marriage; she was born a Lancaster.

Alexander Oakes appears in the 18th century with a very unusual look on magic and spells. His grimoir is also a mystery, someone took it when he died and its still lost in modern times. All witches have to go on are spells that were left out of his grimoire and stories of others who worked with him or observed his ways.
