Not many people know about them but Cameron is a very kind but anxious individual. They are most likely to be afraid of other people than they are afraid of them. The idea of being known and perceived by other people deeply frightens them. Despite this, Cameron is very loving and devoted towards those they know.

Cameron may appear aloof at first glance, but they are actually very expressive in terms of facial expression and body language. Growing up selectively mute made them rely on other means of communication to let their family know what was on their mind. One may even describe Cameron as over-dramatic because of this, but it has become the norm in their household. Their main form of communicating is though sign language but every now and then they would also include additional actions to further emphasize their point.

Though not as frequent as before, Cameron does suffer from episodes of depression and intrusive thoughts. It is hard for them to seek help from professionals like therapists because they cannot handle going outside and interacting with people. They often seek reassurance and comfort from their sister Laverne. If she is not at home, they would either go to sleep for long periods of time or go outside for a walk in their garden to clear their head, though they do the former more often. Because of this, Cameron always looks groggy or tired.

Creating art is Cameron’s main source of happiness and comfort. They have been drawing frequently since they were a child, and their skills are quite exceptional. It used to be a distraction for when they started thinking self-depreciating thoughts, but it soon turned into something they would enjoy doing even without feeling terrible. Cameron would often fill notebooks after notebooks with sketches, scribbles, and whatever came to their mind. Not drawing for even a day fills them with irritation and anxiety. Despite their extraordinary ability, Cameron does not feel comfortable sharing their art with others except for their family in fear of being judged. It took a very long time for their parents to convince them to eventually sell their art as an anonymous artist. Other than creating art, they also often watch television, read books, or watch videos on the internet for other means of entertainment.

Story

They used to be bullied a lot as a kid. Their constant clumsiness when handling objects made the kids in school bully them more.

Overtime, they developed social phobia and selective mutism as a result. They became distant with other people in their school. Eventually, Cameron stopped going to school and stopped speaking entirely because of fear. Cameron's parents were very concerned and did whatever they could to help Cameron talk again, but still nothing. Their parents decided to give Cameron some paper and crayons to help them express themself. Cameron found this as an effective way to communicate and thus began their love for making art. After some time, Cameron's parents decided to learn sign language and teach it to Cameron for them to have more ways of communicating.

One day, Cameron saw a helpless girl come to him while he was sitting on the garden swings by themself. The girl cried and told them that she was very tired and lost. Cameron was very scared and wanted to run away at first, but the girl, Laverne, was crying so much and Cameron felt really bad. Luckily, both Cameron's parents were home so he went inside to inform them about the lost girl in his backyard.

At first, Cameron avoided Laverne whenever possible. Usually they would just watch her from afar. But time would pass, and Laverne would be the one to approach Cameron and interact with them little by little. Laverne learned sign language from Cameron's parents in order to communicate with Cameron. They eventually became close and had a bond that would be unbreakable. They depended on each other for support and comfort. They were siblings and at the same time, best friends.

Though Cameron had Laverne, the social phobia and selective mutism never faded. With the presence of Laverne, Cameron became more facially expressive and happier in general.

---

As of now, they just prefer staying home, spending their time writing and making artworks every now and then. Sometimes they go outside for a brief walk around their rose garden to appreciate the smell of the roses. Since they don't go to school, Cameron's parents decided to hire a tutor for them along with Laverne. Cameron doesn't like being close to the tutor so they have Laverne reteach the lessons to them, which she doesn't mind doing.

While waiting for Laverne to go home from work, Cameron often paints. They like painting on medium sized canvases of anything they can think of. Their paintings always look very beautiful and inspiring so Cameron's parents suggested that they let them sell the paintings. Cameron initially hesitated, but then eventually agreed as long as they be anonymous and that no one would ask about them. With that, Cameron's work has become a bit well known and people would often put up their paintings on display at their homes.

Relationships
Laverne Carier | adoptive younger sister

"My sister... I love her dearly and I would not know what to do without her. She's the biggest blessing in my life. I'm just. Really thankful."

Laverne is Cameron's younger sister, though not by blood. They're really glad she entered their life at a time where they needed someone the most. She's only person they can communicate to freely at home, and they aren’t afraid to make the most ridiculous facial expressions when it comes to showing how they feel. Cameron trusts Laverne even more than their own parents.

Both Laverne and Cameron are very close. They would do most things together like take walks along the empty streets and watching movies at home. Laverne willingly learned sign language in order to communicate the same way with Cameron, and so Cameron would not always have to rely on writing what they wanted to say.

Laverne is the only person Cameron can be comfortable around. At the same time, Cameron is the only person Laverne can confide with about secrets. While they are inseparable, they both also respect each other’s personal spaces which is why they have their own separate rooms at home.

While Laverne is interested in writing, Cameron is interested in drawing. They would both collaborate and make their own stories in their spare time. Their dream is to make books together with stories written by Laverne with art illustrated by Cameron.
