“What an adorable girl! Met her during my trip to that small fishing hamlet. She’s timid and withdrawn, yes, but that’s just part of how her unfathomably deep knowledge runs. I don’t think there’s a single thing I know about that she doesn’t know about as well! — but I can tell that her knowledge doesn’t run very deep at times. Socially, for example. Good lord, please just ask that other girl out. I’m begging you, Hardesty. Please. Do it for uncle Geoff?”
"O-oh, Geoff. He's... confident. And loud. V-very loud. He's like my opposite... still smart though..! J-just a different smart. I think he uhm- gives me too much credit at times, b-but he's nice to me, so...
...I-I just wish he'd stop asking about M-Mary though..."
“He’s arrogant and prickly and hot-headed and generally difficult to manage, but... that didn’t make him any less of my better half. Despite his shortcomings, Skylar was thoughtful, fiercely loyal, and selfless to a fault; I don’t think it was coincidence that we were drawn to each other as more than just acquaintances. Skylar was a sensitive man with a heart of gold, and I feel honored to know that I was the first person he would confide in about his insecurities and doubts. I wouldn’t have him any other way, and knowing that he’s gone, I’m not sure I’ll be able to love anyone else the way I loved him.”
“I’m conflicted about this douche. Geo’s the same overly sensitive man whose I’d cried into, shivering and sniveling as he’d set me straight about my warped sense of self-worth, as the stoic bastard who sat there and said nothing for months as he was pulled to the altar and made to say I do’ to a woman he didn’t love. I understand that it’s easy as hell to make and break promises that just fall out your mouth when you’re a stupid teen, but his optimism was stupefyingly reality-bending. I still want to love him and his dopey smile, his grounding presence and his deeply-concerned protectiveness, but... He’s changed, and I know he’s something I can’t have, especially not when time’s running out like this.”
