Personality

Meku is energetic, playful, and easily excited. She’s also quite friendly, and enjoys meeting new people so long as she’s in a good enough mood. She appears to be trusting and open with others initially, but is rather guarded of her feelings and certain subjects. She’s sensitive enough to people’s feelings that she can usually pick up on their moods. Meku hates disciplined exercise; however, she loves expending her energy in fun, unrestrained ways. She can often be seen playing games, running around, and play fighting – with or without other people. Despite her good nature, Meku’s mood can and will quickly turn south. “Difficult” is often a word used by others about her. If even something minor upsets her, she has trouble dealing with it or letting it be. Because she’s so full of energy, her bad moods have little room for subtlety. She’ll yell at, growl at, run away from, or even hit a person that upsets her too far. If she finds herself too tired, she can tip over into feeling annoyed at anything and anyone. She will usually find a place to be alone, often away from the bustling harbor and into where the mountains start, and just sulk/be alone for long enough to calm down. Due to her disposition, Meku usually sticks to things that bring her immediate joy while discarding people or activities that cross the line into annoyance or complexity. Other people often do the same to her, so she makes few lasting connections. Meku loves living at Radiant Harbor, because there’s enough new input and faces that she can afford to live this way. While very self-centered, Meku has no illusions about her flaws, and she doesn’t trust others to look past them either. On top of this, she has issues with her short-term memory. Names, faces, and new information will pass right through her. Getting something to stick well requires reinforcement, association, or a high level of interest. Meku is too careless to develop habits to fix this. She once tried to keep a notebook to write things down and study them, but she almost immediately grew bored of it and forgot to bother anyway.

Background

Abandoned at birth, Meku grew up in one of Radiant Harbor’s orphanages. She was used to families expressing interest in her, only for things to fall through for one reason or another. By the time she had a real chance at finding a home, her personality started becoming rougher. Her friendliness landed her in a few foster homes, but even they couldn’t keep her for long after she began fighting with others, running off, or having problems remembering things. She earned a reputation as a difficult kid with bad grades and a low attention span. Although she wasn’t largely unhappy or mistreated, she had a hard time believing she could ever last in any sort of long term relationship with others. Once, while upset and fleeing to the mountains to cool off, she happened upon two others training there. Although not in the mood to be in the company of others, she recognized them and stuck around. Meku liked to sneak into the competitive fighting rings around Radiant Harbor to watch all sorts of bouts, so she knew these two Lycanrocs as a tag team duo called the Rough Diamonds. She watched them spar and found herself forgetting whatever bothered her. Yakan (夜間), the Midnight Lycanroc, caught her staring at them and beckoned her over. Meku ended up in a mock fight with the older woman. Although she got her butt handed to her, she managed to impress them and had a lot of fun too. Hiruma (昼間), the Midday Lycanroc, offered her water and listened to Meku complain about her problems. They rock climbed a small ridge in the mountain together. When it got dark, Hiruma and Yakan walked Meku back to the orphanage. To her surprise, they adopted her soon after that day. Not only were the two a fighting team, but they were a romantic couple as well. Meku travels around the city with them, and sometimes to other cities, as they follow tournaments and whatnot. They’re often busy, but Meku appreciates the time to herself. The three are a wild, volatile family, but also very loving and understanding. Meku cares deeply about them, but she’s also deathly terrified that they’ll find her too much to deal with one day and send her away. Now that she’s older, the orphanage wouldn’t support her any longer, and she fears she could never make it on her own in the world.
