Calypso

• Hair always covers where their eyes would be.
• Has sharp teeth.
• Mouth, blush, and blood are blue instead of pink/red.
• Sprinkles on hair open as eyes with black scleras.

Make way for Calypso because they're one giant party animal! They are very active and hypersensitive to physical stimuli. This includes something as small as a tap on the shoulder to make them jump or nearly tackle you down. They enjoy play, but Calypso is quick to take it too far and turn it into horseplay, where someone else could get hurt. Their boastful energy makes it difficult for Calypso to stay tamed, so constant reminders to calm down are necessary. They do their best, but that means leaving them bored is a bad idea. Something needs to distract them from being disruptive. Calypso does enjoy meeting new people and talking to them. Admittedly, they're not the sharpest tool in the shed, but it doesn't stop them from talking about pretty much anything. Down to the dumb, dirty, dark, and disgusting stuff. Calypso is blunt and sometimes colorful with their language. They end up saying things before they think twice about it, so they'll be just as suprised as you are over what innapropriate things come out of their mouth.

They may look tough and scary from a distance because of their staggering height and sharp teeth, but Calypso is merely dressing the part. Past the spikes and chains they cover themselves up in, they hide a bit of a gentle giant side. One that makes them a weak coward. Calypso is intimidated by people who can put up a real fight, not just for child's play. The trauma they had been victimized to in the past triggers anxiety and a strong need for someone to protect them. It doesn't matter if such a bully is smaller than them, or a friend of someone they know. If they really feel threatened, the energy created by fear converts to fury, and Calypso unleashes an impulsive, animalistic side of themselves that attacks others. These urges are out of instinct, feeling as if someone is mind controlling them into gnawing their prey like a beast. It doesn't always happen, but Calypso feels remorse after the episodes. They would feel better receiving praise for pulling off an act of bravery, something they always wished they were. People with heroic qualities are people Calypso looks up to to feel stronger and tougher. It'll be an amount of time before Calypso will jump back to their hyper, idiotic self.

Calypso was another Saturnian alien born from the stardust of two supernovas. Aliens like them lived separately from normal aliens born from stardust of normal stars that died. Calypso had dangerous magic that could easily escalate to chaos if not monitored long enough. So the government declared for them to be kept watch by Janus. The two didn’t hit it off right away. Calypso always made attempts to distract Janus by having them believe guards were chasing after them or luring them into stores that never existed. This way, Calypso would be able to sneak away to places that were illegal for their kind. They would also distract witnesses that caught them by summoning their greatest fears and have them believe to be real, causing outbursts of panic and the aliens fighting one another over nothing. Janus resorted to having Calypso on a leash to prevent them from running away or biting strangers. Calypso would continue gnawing on its chains and break them. There were days Janus didn’t want to deal with them, so they’d glue Calypso’s door and windows shut and keep them in their room for a few days. Janus would come back afterwards to find Calypso clinging onto them like they haven’t seen them in years, but very happy to see them. Calypso never liked being left alone, so they grew very attached to Janus.

As the two took more time to get to know one another and interact, they were inseparable. Calypso served to be their guardian towards whoever tried to hurt them while Janus cared for them like a sibling. They would perform mean pranks on other aliens, irritating or frightening them, and play fight with each other until their lungs gave out. It wasn’t like the two had the liberty to frolic around the realm they lived in. They went through harsh punishments together as well. Calypso always ends up crying after every punishment. The pain and the trauma overwhelmed them. Janus grew fed up with the treatment of their species and being forced to watch innocents being tortured in public. They encouraged Calypso and some of their other friends to help Janus kill the king and take his throne. Calypso’s role while Janus ended up killing the king was to summon horrific illusions that made the guards kill one another or believe they’re dying over and over again, bringing some of them to insanity. That didn’t stop Calypso and the others for very long. Everyone but Janus was captured and locked up in the dungeon to be sentenced to death the very next day. Calypso was able to gnaw the chains off their cuffs and escape their cell, leaving the others behind. That day was the last time Calypso would hear from Janus for a long time. For the rest of their life in Saturn, Calypso lived in fear, hiding from everyone and anyone to avoid going back to the dungeon. They waited every day for Janus to come back for them for many years.

Their sanity didn't stick around long enough for Calypso to be patient for them. They lived alone in a secret underground hatch Janus and their friends had formulated their plan together in before the assassination. They seldomly left their hidden home except for when Calypso had to look for food. They mimicked the voices of their friends to comfort themselves, giving Calypso the illusion that they were still there sometimes. They had killed animals for sustenance, often having gone days without a morsel. Some days felt like they were too ill to eat, or their hunger is driving themselves insane. They'd resort to biting and chewing on the furniture around them just to stop their stomach from eating itself. Absolutely no one was to be trusted during such dark times. There had been instances where Calypso's panic upon being caught outside resulted to killing the Saturnians and dragging their corpses home to be properly discarded. As long as no one has found the hatch, Calypso was safe from the rest of society. Until one day. Calypso was returning to the hatch after a fruitless search for food. They were growing weak, as it was winter at the time, so not many wild animals roamed around the area. They froze to the sound of creaking. It came from the hatch door, but Calypso wasn't the one who opened it. Could it be...? Calypso didn't know who was coming, but they were petrified to know there will be someone else in the underground home with them that they may not know. They hid under the bed and waited for the intruder to go away. Unfortunately, the ferocious growling of their stomach gave themselves away, as a feminine voice called out to them. It spoke of promise to not hurt them, and only came to help them escape Saturn. Their name was Ophelia.

Calypso was suspicious of her at first. She sounds like she knew about them, but is not preturbed to confront them at all. She was calm, but too calm for Calypso's comfort. They suspected she was trying to trick them into being executed at first. However, they were too malnourished to crawl out and attack her. They could only shiver and await to see what she'd do to them. In the end, Ophelia gave away the ready-to-eat meals she had on her and patiently awaited for them to calm down and tell them what happened to their friends. To talk to another Saturnian like this after years of isolation, it made them feel vulnerable, but something about Ophelia also made them feel safe. They told her everything. They wanted to leave this deserted place behind and go to Earth, where Calypso believed Janus would be after hearing of their own escape. With the help of her portal magic and a friend's robot companion, Ophelia succesfully smuggled Calypso across the border that divided the Novi and Stelite realms to take the two to Earth. It was from there that Calypso reunited once again with Janus in the city of Silverbrooke. They had never wanted to leave Janus' side ever again.

Several months passed ever since that day. Calypso was back to their hyper and enthusiastic self in no time, following Janus everywhere like a magnet while yapping their ears off about Earth's wonders. The two were also reunited with the rest of the squad. They were especially excited to have Fenrir back. Calypso looked up to him like a super hero, with an obvious crush at that. Overall, Calypso could feel safe and happy with everyone back together again. They made new friends alongside Janus, adding to the excitement of having friends that were aliens from other planets and fellow Earthlings. Everything was normal again. Everything was happy and exciting. For a span of time. Calypso learned right after they reunited that they had a girlfriend. She was a sweet person to everyone, including Calypso, so they didn't have a problem with that at first. When it'd be just the two of them alone, Janus doesn't seem to be all that interested into doing what they used to do back in Saturn. Sure the two would go out and do things for Calypso to enjoy, but... things with Janus began to shift in a different direction.

Janus had allowed Calypso to share the house with them when they first settled on Earth. Janus reserved the guest bedroom for them to stay in until they'll eventually move out with Aster once they're married. Before that, Janus would sometimes have to go out to the store or would decide to go on a date with Aster. Whenever Janus simply declared to go out of the house, Calypso would grow anxious by the thought of being alone again, fearing Janus would never come back again. They would talk their way into coming with Janus wherever they went. This annoyed Janus quickly, as past experiences felt like taking a 5 year old to a toy store they never want to leave. Janus had to resort to threatening Calypso to staying at the house if they don't get over their overdramatic behavior. They woul call Calypso when they're on their way home anyways. When Calypso would keep persisting, physical punishments took place. They've been beaten down with whatever Janus clubbed them with, kicked to the ground, or glued to a wall with their slime, forcing them to be stuck in a room alone until they returned. Some days, Janus would return with the house in a wreck, like a tornado came in and rearranged the furniture into a chaotic mess. Calypso's begging, whining, and destructing brought Janus' blood to a boil. Their last resort would be to kick Calypso down the stairs to their basement and lock them in the dark. Calypso would be left to starve for days, their cries proving to do nothing but waste oxygen. There was no way for them to creep out of the windowless basement, nor any hidden doors or passageways to escape from. They were trapped in a cold concrete prison.

Calypso's trust and safety around Janus gradually declined. Janus would be controlling in a lot of aspects in their life at the house. They were threatened to keep their mouth shut about the things Janus does to them when around their friends, or they will stop feeding them or claim Fenrir will break up with them for finding out the bite marks Janus earned before were from Calypso, framing them as a cannibal. Calypso had found themselves seeking opportunities to avoid sharing the same roof with Janus for a while. Knowing that Janus keeps records of the phone calls they make, Calypso proceeded to call Fenrir often to hang out with him or simply talk to during nights when they can't sleep. They'd keep things short and vague, masking their fear with their usual excitement until the two were in person together. Fenrir was the only one who they know can keep a secret when asked to, as he's proven in the past when they were in Saturn. Calypso confessed the abuse Janus has been inflicting onto them. They couldn't take it anymore with Janus. They wanted to escape from them and stay with Fenrir instead. He has had his suspicions for a long time. He knew something was off between the two of them, and Janus' deception was nothing new to him. Calypso was promised to get a place of his own for Calypso to live with him. He'll find a place farther from Janus, but close enough to continue being able to visit the rest of their friends in Silverbrooke. For the time being, Calypso was gifted a service dog to keep them company to look after them for him whenever they're not together.
