Datura's Links
Datura makes Calypso feel safe, somehow. She's almost parental, she thinks.
Stryx is a sweet little thing, even if he's a bit sad. He's good for Jay, and Jay seems to be good for him. She doesn't quite trust him at first, mostly because she doesn't want anyone to hurt Jay. He's family, and it's important to her that he's as happy as possible. When that doesn't happen, she welcomes him without a second thought and grows less apprehensive.
Datura is like the mom of the group, like a mom Stryx can't quite remember. He likes being around so many people, and he looks up to Datura because of how level headed and leader-like she is. He does his best to mimic the behavior he sees from her to make himself a better person, but he can never quite maintain it and falls back to his childish self in no time at all.
Milo's misunderstood and hard to handle sometimes, but she loves him like family anyway. His hostility and his irritability has never really pushed her beyond arm's length. She handles him well and knows when to back off and when to push for him to chill out. He's grown a lot in a short amount of time. He just needs the right person to help him finish healing and learn that not everyone is all bad.
Datura is safe and she's understanding. Milo feels comfortable around her and is willing to approach her to talk about anything and everything. She makes sure he's looking presentable, and he does his best to make something of what she's giving him if for no one else but her.
Ruby is a sweet thing, and he tries hard. He's a good person through and through and his determination and positivity is admirable. Should anything break that in him, surely the entire family would fall apart. He's the light of their little group and keeps everyones' heads up when they're down.
Datura has become something of a big sister figure. She guides him when he's lost his way and encourages him to make good decisions. She's the best person to go to when he's confused, and is effectively the leader of their little group. He respects her and loves her like family.
Coach is a good boy who was misled most of his life. Datura respects him for his perseverance despite how bleak his future looked at first. She treats him as part of the family, and she loves him like she'd love a brother. While she's not afraid to tell him when he's being silly, she does her best to be gentle and understanding with him no matter what.
Jay has a good heart, and is a kind person. Datura will go out of her way to make his life easier for him in any way possible. She learned ASL and helped to teach everyone else in the household as well to try to make communicating easier. She happily cooks meals for him and for everyone else, and acts almost as a motherly figure despite their similarity in age.
Jay is fluent in ASL because of Datura and her goal to communicate with him when he was wearing headphones or his ringing was so bad he could barely stand. Even if no one else in the house tries, at least Jay can fall back on a mother figure.
