Insidious is big, strong, fast, and brave. He's everything that Ruby wishes that he was, and so he idolized him for a long time before they ever even met, keeping up with events around the world. When Insidious came to live with them, Ruby was astonished and was quick to make his companionship. He found him to be even kinder and softer than he ever imagined him to be before, and grows attached. That attachment forms to a deep adoration, just as strong as that which he feels towards Coach.
Ruby is on the verge of being insufferably sweet, but it's a kindness that Insidious has never quite gotten the chance to experience before. He holds onto it, and he grows to like him. That like turns to something more before long, and Insidious wants to protect that fuzzy feeling that Ruby gives him. It's unlike anything he's experienced before, and he comes to love him deeply in time. Ruby is kind. Ruby forgives and forgets. Ruby makes him feel whole again instead of damaged goods, and Sidi clings to that like it's his lifeline.
Milo's a bit funny to deal with sometimes. He's a little bit mean, and Ruby can't quite understand why despite his efforts to read him better and to try to make him more comfortable around him. Milo doesn't like anyone, so he's chalked it up to that and is perfectly okay with it. Not everyone is going to love him, and he can deal with that.
Ruby is optimistic to a fault. He's a bit annoying, but he can deal with him for the most part. He's still family, like it or not. He can tolerate him better than some of the rest, which is saying a lot. He backs down easily enough, which makes putting up with him ten times easier.
Datura has become something of a big sister figure. She guides him when he's lost his way and encourages him to make good decisions. She's the best person to go to when he's confused, and is effectively the leader of their little group. He respects her and loves her like family.
Ruby is a sweet thing, and he tries hard. He's a good person through and through and his determination and positivity is admirable. Should anything break that in him, surely the entire family would fall apart. He's the light of their little group and keeps everyones' heads up when they're down.
Ruby looked up to a father that wasn't ever there from the time he was little. His mother spoke very fondly of him, and never took it to heart that he left when he was granted the opportunity to build a brighter future for himself. How could she? She wanted it for him as well. Ruby was told countless stories and tales about Ruler, and he longs to meet him someday. He thinks he'd be proud of him and excited to see him.
Ruler has no idea that Ruby even exists. After he and Pilot's communication was cut after he was set free by his owner, Ruler fell out of touch with any part of where he'd come from. Perhaps that was something of a defense mechanism following the death of his brother. Any memories of him were replaced, and he was effectively blocked out of his history altogether to prevent himself from hurting.
Part of the new circle Calypso is still trying to navigate. She doesn't know them very well, yet.
Coach was Ruby's idol from the time they first met, up until present date. That never changed, even after Coach was broken, even after Coach put him through the wringer emotionally and physically early in their relationship. If anything, it just made his love for him stronger and they continued to grow together. He'd do anything for him, no matter how tall the task. Having Coach at his side is a dream come true, and he'd not trade it for the world.
Coach got many things handed to him in life but a suitable partner was not one of them. Ruby was perfect, available and head over heels for Coach already, so he barely had to work for it. And it was nice that Ruby was cute too.
