Stormstar, or Stormkit at the time was born and raise in Shadowclan with two very loving parents. She was the only one of her siblings to survive birth and thus was the center of her parents universe, but this didn't make her spoiled or entitled. Her father was the deputy of Shadowclan and she worked hard to get to his approval. Soon after she was made an apprentice an older tom, only older by a moon or two, had found his way to Shadowclan camp. He claimed to be the son of Rainstreak, who he heard was a mighty warrior of Shadowclan. It was discovered that during his warrior hood, before he had become mates with Cricketsong, he had mated with a beautiful loner and now his son has come to search for him to join the clans. Seeing another able bodied cat, Shadowclan quickly took him in. Stormpaw was no happy about this but dealt with it anyways, seeing this as possibly an opportunity to have a sibling at long last. It was around this time when Stormpaw's blossoming friendship with Inkpaw began

Her brother turned out to be more of an annoyance than a good experience but they did bond over time. Despite the fact she would be the first to claw Echopaw's ears off she would defend him through anything, and Echopaw would do that same for her. The two soon became warriors, earning the names Stormstreak and Echobreeze for the duo's speed and agility. Inkpaw had earned their warrior name of Inkwhisper a few moons before. At the time of her warriorship there was an over abundance of apprentices in Shadowclan and she was quickly saddle with one of the younger cats. It was a learning experience for her and though she thought it was too soon for her to have one, it definitely helped her become a better warrior.

After the war ended, costing the young she-cat the lives of both of her parents and the cat that she had mentored, Stormstreak was surprised to earn the role of leader. She was determined to make her ancestors proud of their choice in her. Soon her and Emberstar set out for the moon pool to get their nine lives. When they made it back they had already made a plan to go find a new home. During the trek to their new home, Stormstar lost her first life saving her best friend and future deputy Inkwhisper, not wanting them to drown and knowing she could afford to at least lose one life to save a friend.

When they finally came to the new territories, reality set in for Stormstar. She had to be their leader now. Pushing aside her feelings, she lead to the best of her ability, helping others through the tragedies and triumphs. Over time she became close again with her friend Dullgaze and they eventually became mates. Not long after this, The mudslide happened, causing Emberclan to move in with Stormclan. Everything was fine, until the final moon of their stay, when Sharkscar launched an attack on Stormstar, Emberstar, and Halfpelt. He killed the medicine cat and took a life from both leaders.

Following the attack, Stormstar and Dullgaze started spending more time together and eventually Stormstar became pregnant with kits. She lost a life during kitting and gave birth to six beautiful kits, Cricketkit, Owlkit, Breezekit, Wablerkit, Palekit, and Brokenkit. She was furious at her mate for naming her son Brokenkit but this passed as they raised the kits together, eventually adopting Juniperkit.
