About

Intelligent • Sociable • Apathetic • Rude

he only daughter in the recent lineage of the old, wealthy Laravolt family line, Aspen Laravolt is an intuitive and intelligent young woman with a penchant for digging through old books and being thoughtful, but she's anything but quiet and reserved. Her eyes are as keen as an eagles, making her adept at maneuvering social situations and speaking with others, picking apart their words with deftness and ease, and her tongue is about as sharp as an eagle's talons. She tends to speak her mind, and unlike her recent companion and close friend Farran, she has no filter. Passionately interested in anthropology and the history of the world, Aspen was well on her way to comfortably lounging around a large empty house, reading and researching all day. Fortunatly and unfortunately for her, she gets to do this anyways when recent events and a meeting with her now best friends Farran and Rena put her in a situation where the three must hunt for ancient relics and treasures, before other, more malicious individausl can get to them first.

Aspen is intelligent and curious, loving to learn new things, specifically in her preferred field of anthropology and human histories. Though she's quick-witted and operates under well under pressure, the same can't be said if she's operating under pressure when her safety and life are actively at risk. She tends to be rude, argumentatie and rather combative, having a very well-formulated opinion of herself, and taking great offense when someone dares to call her out for her attitude or insult her. She never likes to back down from a fight of the verbal kind, and though she is an excellent debater, she tends to insult as well as debate when she does get the chance to argue. As for whether she means the things she says...that entirely depends on who she's "debating" with.

Debates
She lives to argue with people and just generally make a nuisance out of herself.

Dislikes

Waking up early
She needs her beauty sleep. Besides, no sane person wakes up before five in the morning (Farran)

Tourists
Unfortunate when your hometown is a vacation hotspot. Get out of her town immediately and at the earliest convenience.

No-one calls her "Ditzy and vague" to her face and gets away with it.

Story

Aspen was born to Nathan and Selmie Laravolt, with Nathan being a descendent of the wealthy Laravolt family, one of who's founders helped to restore Ashya after the Aydrian Super Eruption. Aspen would enjoy a first few loving and happy years of childhood, with her father being a firm, but kind man who doted on his daughter, and her mother being a likeable lady from a more rustic background. Selmie encouraged Aspen to begin reading and developing her mind from an early age, as she valued intelligence and believed that it could be used to help others. Aspen adored both of her parents, but would experience loss at an early age when Selmie, who had troubles with breathing, died after a particularly brutal summer from the constant outpouring of ash from the Mouth of Aydria in the center of Ashya.

Burgeoning Scholar

Selmie's death would strain Aspen and Nathan's relationship, with Nathan becoming more reclusive and more drawn into his work, unfortunately leaving little Aspen to be raised mostly by the two house-staff that were employed at the manor, with interactions with her father being rare, and stilted and somewhat awkawrd when they did happen, especially when Aspen grew more into adolescence and adulthood. Nathan, realizing his mistake, would attempt to try and mend the holes in their relationship when Aspen was an older teenager, which Aspen gratefully accepted, but the damage was mostly done, with Aspen being left with bits of resentment and troubles with abandonment as a concept, feeling that her father had abandoned her when she needed him most.

Aspen would study anthropology and human history as a whole at Windcastle University in Windcastle, Peltona; Ashya. There she'd meet Jamie Mitchell, who would go on to be a longtime friend of Aspen's, even after the two parted separate ways when they graduated. Aspen would work as an archivist in Moraviaston, Vauxnet in Ashya after she'd graduate, continuing her studies and working with others to further their understanding of human history, specifically the history of Ashya before the Aydrian Super-Eruption, much of which was still lost to time due to the immense cataclysmic nature of the natural disaster.

Curiosity Finds a Cat

Some years after Aspen would secure her job in Moraviaston, she would take time off to visit her aging grandfather, Morgan, and to keep him company after the recent passing of his wife. While visiting, Aspen would encounter an individual who didn't seem too remarkable in her eyes, until she ended up meeting his peculiar travel companion. After Farran would talk Rena down out of killing Aspen, who had unwittingly provoked the cat with the simple act of poking a finger into Farran's chest when the two had gotten into an argument, the three would part ways briefly after some mild conversation about what in the world Farran was doing with an exotic apex predator. Conflicted, Aspen would seek him out the following morning, and say that she needed to accomompany the two to Ashya's borders and beyond, because with her "connections" and "amount of wealth" they'd have an easier time of getting Rena out of the country. Farran would agree, and the three set off, unaware of what lay before them...
