Mikhail Bulgakov

Appearance

A notable trait of Misha's physical appearance is the perpetual presence of a hat. They have segemental heterochromia, where their goldenrod eyes have orange patches above the iris. Their skin is rather pale, often contrasted by their makeup and clothing.

Misha always presents as their female persona, Hella. Passing off as a female perfectly, with a feminine body, no visible bulge. In their main appearance, they wear a dark red wig which falls over their right shoulder, a fully made face fitting for drag performers, a tight black dress, a red belt studded with diamond shaped metal studs, with matching thigh, red soled boots and a pair of matching red palmed gloves. Over their outfit they wear a floral patterned black coat with fur trims on the lapels and the lower hem. They top the outfit off with a black wide brimmed hat which is red underneath.

Outside of drag, Misha still presents themselves flamboyantly. They are without makeup and wig, showing off their natural messy brown hair and masculine features. Wearing red gloves, a black top with mesh and diamond studs, white high waisted pants and black boots with gold wedges. Over the outfit is a white coat adorned with numerous red and orange floral patterns, and red trimming under the coat. The hat they wear with this outfit is the same as the previous hat.

A notable trait of Misha's is their higher voice, a result of vocal training for their performances.

Personality 

Misha, for a member of the Rats, is actually very much normal compared to a good number of the Rats, albeit just a little more flamboyant than most. They're rather honest, and does not beat around the bush. Misha is not afraid to walk up to just about anyone within the organization and will say their piece. They are also not above nagging. That being said, Misha is rather confident and assertive. Shockingly, they are also known to be quite friendly and uncannily far less hostile and volatile than the other members of the Rats.

While not necessarily a sassmouth, Misha is a person who always has something to say, regardless of the situation. They are opinionated and will always give their input, which more often than not, is rather unsolicited. Because they always have something to say, one can assume they run their mouth before thinking, when in fact, Misha is a good enough listener and hears the other party well enough to make their point afterwards. Misha is witty and a quick thinker, making them to be a person with rather enjoyable conversations.

Misha is said to have some level of cunning to them, but does not display this unless they feel they are in danger, their gut feeling won't go away, or when they are handling an operation. Misha, at least to the Rats, has no real reason to start plotting against them, and instead, uses their cunning to benefit the organization, despite their own personal disagreements with Fyodor Dostoyevsky himself.

Violence is one thing Misha is not above; however, very much prefers to not resort to it. They have been desensitized to the view and concept of cruelty and violence, but it doesn't make them feel any better about it. Personally, Misha can understand why violence is needed, how it can make a statement, but they will disagree with sadistic acts and violence for the sake of it. Misha, when handling others, would prefer quick and painless, rather than put them through torture.

Misha mainly has a positive disposition, and is pretty much some sort of a mood maker. The tense and melancholic environment within the Rats is something they feel they have to address, and actually goes out of their way and against Fyodor's orders to make sure the other members are in good condition. One would mistake this as their obligation as a medical professional, but Misha's care and drive to keep everyone in decent condition is genuine and comes from the heart. For what the rest of the Rats have gone through, they feel immense pity for everyone, and genuinely tries their best for everyone.

While generally concerned for others, Misha is also shown to be quite motherly, properly caring for the young Anna Akhmatova, as well as the younger members of the Rats. They even go as far as to try and care for Dmitri Glukhovsky, even going as far as showing compassion to the ever picked on Alexander Puskin. [[ TBA ]]

Ability

Misha's Ability is called Rukopisi Ne Goryat (рукописи не горят 原稿は燃えません Genkō Wa Moemasen), which enables them to many anythign they touch flammable or explosive, which are then triggered with the snap of their fingers. Even materials that are not flammable such as metal, or ay other material, are not exempt from this. An indicator of the Ability's effect is a burnt handprint on the item or place, which is only visible to Misha. However; should they make things explosive, the burnt handprint will be visible to others and may slowly start burning, and once Misha snaps their fingers, the object explodes.

To tun things flammable, Misha only has to touch an object. But turning them explosive, Misha must hold the object for a few seconds before letting go, letting the handprint burn into the object first.

Background

Misha was born as Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov in Kiev, Ukraine. Though they was born in Ukraine, their family had come from Russia, moving to Ukraine to scout out Ability users in the are to bring them back to Moscow and St. Petersburg as Afanasiy Bulgakov was an associate of the Russian Government as well as familial roots in Kiev. They were one of seven children, and the eldest of three sons. Life in Ukraine for the first years of their life was normal, and they went to regular schooling with their siblings in the Kiev Gymnasium.

From an early age, Misha had been interested in theater, and being a child, wrote out little plays for them and their siblings to act out, often performing them for their parents and guests in the house. In school, the young Misha took a keen interest in literature, further enriching their interest in theater and performing. The little Misha was a star in theatre, and did well enough in school that his parents could focus on their work and caring for the children without any worry of behavioral problems.

Life was normal for the Bulgakov Family, even whe Misha's Ability started manifesting when they were around ten year old. Being a child, Misha was quite handsy, and always played with their siblings. However; eventually his siblings would complain about Misha's touch being too hot, and worried if they were getting feverish. Misha also began to notice their handprints on everything they touch: black, soot-like handprints. However, as Misha had not started any sort of fire at home, it was rather safe. However; their parents had become wary at the changes happening within their child, and especially after it was brought to their attention by Misha that whenever they touched anything, it looks like it had a black handprint, and it smelled like it was burning. The only time the Bulgakov family took action about helping Misha handle their Ability was when the child held something for too long that their hand burned through, or the object in their hand caught on fire. The little Misha was scared; but thankfully, their parents were well equipped in handling Ability Users. As Misha was their own child, they did not send them to Moscow immediately, but did the best they could to help them handle their Ability, keep them from nearly burning everything they touched, and how to trigger the flames to ensure prevention of any untoward incident. Misha's family hid them from authorities, not willing to part with their child and subject them to any modifications and any cruel procedures.

It was thanks to their parents' intervention that Misha was able to learn to accept, control and harness their Ability on their own, being able to continue schooling normally without fear of causing any untoward incident. Without alerting any authorities of their Ability, Misha had grown well into society, had their own circle of friends, and sometimes it felt that having an Ability was just something extra to them. However; life would not be as well for Misha as they had thought, as one day, news of Afanasiy Bulgakov being murdered by an Ability User on the run from the Russian Government had come to the family, through broadcast. The incident would forever change Misha. After the incident, their mother, Varvara Bulgakova, took charge of her children's education.

After the death of Afanasiy Bulgakov when Misha was only 16, their interest in literature and theater took a sharp turn towards medicine, a choice made in grief over their father's death; as well as a career choice that could help them support their mother and their siblings. While Varvara continued to encourage her child's passion for theater, Misha was too emotionally wrecked to continue it for a while, and insisted to take medicine, also in hopes of being able to provide aid for their family. After graduating from the Gymnasium, Misha took up medicine in Kiev University.

Due to their grief, Misha's Ability had begun to manifest out of their control. They would be seeing their burnt handprints everywhere, and fell into a long state of anxiety and nervousness. Eventually, the fear would catch up to them, not realizing that they had left visible burnt handmarks around the University, and that people had noticed. The then nervous Misha had been confronted by authorities under the assumption that they were an Ability User in relation to a terror cell. Not understanding how and why this had become the situation, Misha put up a fight due to their insistence, but lost and was taken into custody. In questioning, while it was clear that Misha was an Ability User, they were also the child of their deceased agent, Afanasiy. Under the assumption that their Ability only started manifesting very recently, the Government had a word with Misha's mother that they had to be taken to Moscow due to this incident, but Varvara insisted that Misha stayed in Kiev. After a long argument, the authorities agreed to allow Misha to stay in Kiev, but under tight surveillance, some agents even becoming security in the Medical Faculty of Kiev University, and that after graduation, Misha will automatically be assigned in the medical department of one of their biggest facilities in Moscow. While this was an arrangement that Misha was not happy with, they only agreed only because of a guaranteed career after graduation.

Soon enough, the Russian Government fulfilled their promise to Misha after graduation, landing them as a physician within their facilities that handled Ability Users. Misha was their attenting physician, but was also subjected to testing, themselves. However; Misha's Ability in itself was already stable, and didn't need further testing. They also refused to have their Ability modified in any shape or form. Misha quickly grew to pity the Ability users imprisoned in these facilities, and detested the system that they fell victim to. It would not be long before that Misha has experienced and survived a large raid in the facility they worked in, led by Maxim Gorky, an ex-Government Agent turned terrorist, destroying Ability User Facilities and freeing the experiments. Misha would come to know of Maxim, and spent the next few years planning an audience with him. However; it did not go as planned, as Misha was relocated into a high security facility that handled very dangerous Ability Users, being assigned as the physician for these Ability Users. Seeing the even harsher procedures done unto these people, Misha spoke against the cruelty being done upon them, and reasoned that they will not live long due to incessant testing. Here, they are the assigned physician of Anna Akhmatova, a child whos Ability manifested in infancy. Misha immediately cared for the poor girl, who was always afraid of everything, growing up in the facility. Misha had decided to become the compassionate intervention she needed, and was even then called her "Red Angel", and sometimes, "Papa". Caring for Anna was the last thing Misha needed to push them to assisting in a future facility raid.

With that, they actively sought out Maxim Gorky, who at the time was in Capri, Italy. However; they came across Fyodor Dostoyevsky, who was doing facility raids in search of powerful Ability Users. However; Misha did not know Fyodor's reasons for the raids, assuming it was for the best. Misha gave Fyodor information on the facility, how to get in, and that they will assist him in the raid. Despite Fyodor's questions, Misha was dead set in freeing Anna and the other Ability Users. During the raid, Misha had assumed Anna had escaped or was taken by Fyodor, only to find out this was not the case, and she has either been left behind or dead. However; they were now labeled a terrorist and a target of the government. While Misha could not change their identity, they discovered club performances and had discovered drag. Finding it as the perfect disguise to go into hiding, they pursued it, and started to perform in clubs to earn money for themselves as they had needed some source of income, going under the name Hella (Гелла). It didn't take long for Misha to become comfortable in presenting as a woman, as aside from it paying the bills, it helped Misha discover themselves. They continued performing for the next two years, raiding facilities themselves and freeing Ability Users. Eventually, they come into contact with Fyodor once again, and raid the same facility as befre. Successfully rescuing Anna this time, Misha had decided to leave with Fyodor out of the country. Due to working very closely for a few years, Fyodor had allowed Misha into his inner circle.
