My sweet love goddex, you always excite my adoration for you over and over again. What would I ever do without you?
My beautiful starling. You're so wonderful and after all these years, you never fail to make me smile. I love you with all of my heart.
My cute twin! How are things in the Underworld? Are my creations treating you well? I'm not slacking off... 💦
My energetic twin! I worry about you sometimes... I trust that you're not slacking off again?
My closest confidant, you stood by my side as the stars in the sky spilled from my fingertips. I made things beautiful, you made them make sense. I don't know what this world would be without you.
My bestest friend in the entire multiverse! The world trembles when we team up for an experiment, hehe. I'm really glad I met you <>
I'm not as far as you'd think. Just look to the stars, my dearest friend... [Voi seems afraid of saying anything more, as if everything could shatter like porcelain with another word.]
... You're so far away. How could I ever hope to reach you again?
Hello Virgolene! Do you happen to have any time to tell me of the wonders you've seen in the mortal world? [The goddex beams at her, and even seems almost ridiculously oblivious to Virgolene's plight.]
(...I think I'm a little tired of the way things are being run around here. On top of being just tired in general. There has to be a fairer way to do this, right?)
You've come a long way from your fiery debut! [They laugh a little with a gentle smile.] I'm so proud of you, my friend.
Ooh, my little girls! [Harlei ruffles up both Ophieux and Gemille's hair, then sighs nostalgically.] How was your stay in the human world? Any interesting sights? Interesting people? [They have a gut feeling that Ophieux isn't telling them something, but chooses not to pry for now.]
[Ophieux stares a little bit into the middle distance as she recalls the farmer's son she so desperately wanted to talk to.] ...Mm. Not much happened. The air was nice, and I think I have more inspiration for my writing.
Alright - What about you, Gem? What did you see? [Out of all of their children, they were the most worried about the twins' first departure. They're massively relieved that, for the most part, it was seemingly uneventful.]
Hmm... Oh, oh! Okay, so, we were in a town, right? And Ophie was like 'I wanna get some books!' and I was like 'Okay!' and even though a lot of people stared at us at the market, they were really nice to us! Probably because we looked so fancy! Anyway, I got this cool doohickey I can fidget with! Look, look it spins! Oh, and-- [She goes on for an hour like this, meticulously recalling every interesting thing that caught her eye in a rapid-fire fashion.]
Chantilly! Need a healthy dose of chaos at your next party? I won't make it too world-bending this time, promise!
[laughs heartily] My dear, no party worth throwing is without a little chaos ✨
My little ram, on the eve of your return from the human world, there was something in your eyes that seemed... Different. Far away. Are you sure you're alright? You can talk to me about anything, and I won't judge you.
(I can never let Papa know what I did down there. It would break their heart to pieces. I have to work harder to make sure they stay proud of me.)
My little ox! Oh, how I missed you! [They hug their son so tightly they almost pick him up off of the ground, inhaling deeply and sighing pleasantly.] How was your first stay on Earth? Aren't humans so /fascinating/? Isn't the world so grand? [They pause for a moment.] ...And is that perfume?
[The teenager is thrown off by Harlei's keen nose.] Ah! No, well-- Yes! I found some perfume that I liked while I was there, but I used the last of it up right before my journey home! [He seems very proud of his lie. He just doesn't want his father knowing about his crush yet! It would upset the natural order of things, he thinks, especially with how mad the other humans got at him.]
(I was a little worried about sending her away for a month, but it looks like she managed just fine without us. I'm so proud of her for making friends...!)
Momma! [Cerces runs to hug her mother, nearly headbutting them as she does so.] Momma, it was wonderful down there! The ocean was so pretty a-and I even made friends with these girls who taught me how to bake! They even gave me a little book to keep all my recipes in! [She fishes around in her satchel and presents a small notebook to Harleistia.] See? I'm gonna make these chocolate drop cookies tonight for everyone!
Kittens!? [Harleistia squeals at the thought. The goddex beams with excitement and pride.] Little kibbidies? Babies? What were they like? Were they soft? Oh, who am I kidding, of course they were! Oh my goodness!
Mhm! They were so hard to wrangle, though, par! Every time I thought they were down, one would get up and start meowing and wake everyone else up... [Leonille thinks for a moment.] ...I think I know how you felt when /we/ were babies, now!
Oh my! Now, what kind of a ruckus did you cause down there, sweetheart? [They laugh a bit before gently brushing some flower petal confetti from Maria's hair.] You look like you haven't slept in weeks!
[Maria grins brightly at Harleistia.] It was so /fun/, Mama! There was singing, dancing, and lots of good food! I even made some friends, too! [Though she includes him in her definition of 'friends', she deliberately abstains from going into detail about the annoying baritone boy who kept getting in her way of flirting with his fellow soprano of a sister.]
You did /what/ while you were down there!? I mean, I'm VERY proud of my little crime-stopper, especially if that guy almost killed someone, but, honey... Our job as gods is to maintain worldly balance from a /distance/... At the very least, I'm glad you're safe.
Oh! Of course I'm safe, Par. I know very well how to defend myself and detain any threat. [The teenager doesn't seem to understand the matter of their self-defense training isn't the issue.] You and all of my aunts, uncles, and unties have taught me very well.
Never fear, O' King! So long as I swear my constancy to you and your splendid cause, your kingdom's crops shall flourish, your riches grow, and your skin clear! [They're being completely serious right now as they beam with pride at Ozmond. Oh, heavens.]
