Merahil

Merahil is the god of the stars, the heavens in general really, as well as of fire and destruction. He one day became a selfish god who desires power over all...to rule over all eternity. Or rather...he was. He was foiled in his attempt to destroy death, and since then only echoes remain of his former anger and desires...for now.

He's the elder brother of Shalaryn, the sun god, and frankly Merahil went from slightly off kilter to losing his shit when Shalaryn married the moon god and moved out. He went on a power trip, created Gero from a sacrificial offering he'd received, and eventually decided to try and kill Aunath since the death god has always been a stickler about balance. Merahil failed in his efforts to kill Aunath, but he wasn't killed. What the others thought were echoes were instead remnants of his power that had been scattered with him still clinging to existence. When colonists made their way to the archipelago kingdom, he possessed the leader and formed the royal family that has ruled for many centuries, trapping the souls of each heir as he body hops from generation to generation, gaining more and more of his power by ensuring the heir is whichever of his children gained more of his divinity in each generation. Along the way, he was able to bastardize the belief in Lafael and Shalaryn enough to weaken and subsequently imprison them for centuries as punishment for the perceived slight against him. 

Kaz, the youngest of his children in his latest generation of royals, held the bulk of his divinity this time, but was slated for death due to the social and religious climate he'd made for the kingdom out of spite...but the power in Kaz was the last little bit needed for Merahil's return as a full-fledged god. His plans to steal the power were foiled, however, and Kaz and Theron returned from hiding eventually with a party to kill Merahil once and for all...or did they?
