It's fine to relax every once in a while, you may just find what you're missing, just make sure not to get to lost and forget how to come back.
― Dionysus

Dionysus is one of the two remaining old gods of Coral Bay. Commonly known as a god of wine, fertility, ecstasy, and theater, many seem to forget him being the god of madness due to his more laid back nature.

Appearance

Dionysus is around the middle of the height spectrum, being around 5'9, but is one of the smaller male gods. He has dark brown freckles across his face and his shoulders. His eyes are a lighter purple that can change into their power state in the blink of an eye to throw people off. He has fluffy dark brown hair that always has ivy leaves plucked from their vines and grapes. He can sometimes also be seen with bull horns almost at random.

Personality

Dionysus likes to have fun, but he knows when to get serious, and can be very terrifying and merciless if pushed to far. He can be found in random spots around the bay, and will chat to anyone who lends him their ears. He always has highly intoxicating wine on his person, which doesn't seem to effect him much, but could almost kill a normal person. He has a good relationship with the locals in both the bay area and the surrounding forests. He also likes to turn those who wronged him into dolphins, mostly for his own amusement. He also has a fatherly instinct that is mostly reserved for Jasper, Dami, and Morris, and he always encourages them to find their own paths.

History

Dionysus had a unique entrance into the world, being born from Zeus's thigh after the death of his mother Semele before he was born. After his birth, he was whisked away from Olympus for his safety, and was raised in the moral world until he was old enough and discovered his godhood. After this, he wandered for awhile, finding company with the satyrs and nymphs he encountered along the way. Once he was confident enough, he returned to Olympus and took his place as one of the Olympians. He would find his close band of satyrs, Barley, Ceder, Rowan, and Wheatly during his travels and they accompany him almost everywhere. He would step forward to raise Jasper, Dami, and Morris when they were brought to Olympus.

After the attack lunched on the gods of Olympus by the demons succeeded and discorperated most of the gods, weakening them enough for them to loss their chosen forms, Dionysus was one of two of the Olympians to escape intact, and he helped Morris revive the earth in the bay area. Dionysus puts on a brave face for his adopted children, despite some of his despair over the destruction that happened and the lives lost. He is also a defensive force against the demons, and is a loud voice of inspiration to the inhabitance of the bay do continue the fight.

Relationships

Hermes

Honestly Hermes, I can rally the troops by myself, but I appreciate the concern!
― Dionysus to Hermes

Hermes was the one that whisked Dionysus away from Olympus after he was born, and watched over him whenever possible as he grew up. Hermes was one of the first Olympians to greet Dionysus when he returned. The two brothers share a close bond where they will often check in on eachother and help out in anyway they can. This makes them a good team, and made them being the only two Olympians slightly better as they could lean on eachother for support whenever they needed it.

Apollo

Apollo and Dionysus are often seen as two sides of the same coin. Apollo is often seen as the more sensible of the two, while Dionysus is seen as more wild. The two of them often bicker for fun, full of inside insults that are more playful jabs then any actual malice. Really the two of them trust eachother alot, enough that Apollo will leave Delphi under Dionysus's watchful eye during winter with full faith in his youngest brother to keep the city and it's people safe.

Trivia

  • Dionysus is often approached by the bay's satyrs just because of who he is, and will often help out any of them who need it.
  • He is often know as the traveling god, often found wandering the bay at seemingly random.
  • Dionysus can inflict madness and ecstacy without warning, as it is a part of his presence that he can control fairly easy.
