Looks only get you so far, it's what's in that head of yours that really determines where you're going.
― Hephaestus

Hephaestus is the god of fire, forges, metalworking, blacksmithing, and volcanos, and is the brother of Ares.

Appearance

Hephaestus is the tallest 2nd generation Olympians, standing at 7'0. His skin is burned on the left side of his face, a small patch on the right side, and his left shoulder, though these burns don't seem to bother him at all. The skin and muscle in his left foot is bunched up, which causes him to limp slightly, though he can put his weight on this foot without pain. His eyes are primarily orange with some yellow as well. His beard is a light grey, and is fluffy on the right side of his face while the left side is slightly rougher due to the burns.

Personality

Hephaestus is a very blunt god, tending to get straight to the point and wanting to get things done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Due to this, he tends to overwork himself trying to get things done. While he rarely relaxes on his own, he can be distracted if he discovers something he can tinker with, which is as close to relaxed as he can get without someone making him. This someone is normally his nephew Eros, who is one of the few gods who have a positive relationship with him, though Dionysus sometimes annoys him enough with good intent to get him to take a break as well.

History

Hephaestus had a rough beginning, being thrown of of Olympus by Hera due to his deformities, he was found and raised by Thetis. He honed his domains away from Olympus and had no intent on returning until he was forced to due to him crafting a throne for Hera that trapped her and wouldn't let her stand. Dionysus was the one to bring him back, getting him drunk in order to do so, though after freeing Hera Hephaestus didn't stay on Olympus and made his forge in Mount Etna. He was seen from time to time on Olympus for meetings and work, but he never really stuck around, especially after his divorce from Aphrodite.

After the attack lunched on the gods of Olympus by the demons succeeded and discorperated most of the gods, weakening them enough for them to loss their chosen forms, Hephaestus ended up being one of these gods. Instead of sticking around one of the godlings however, he stuck around his apprentice Pattia, wanting to comfort the satyr and make sure she stayed safe during the revival of the world.

Relationships

Eros

Honestly, Eros is way to friendly for his own good, not that I'm complaining of course. It just makes me worry from time to time.
― Hephaestus

To say that Hephaestus was surprised by his nephew's admiration is a massive understatement. Due to Eros being the son of Aphrodite and Ares, Hephaestus expected nothing but ridicule from the young god, only to find that the young god looked up to him maybe even more then his own father. Eros could often be found in Hephaestus's forge, just hanging out with his uncle, as well as making sure he wasn't working to hard. Hephaestus in turn is very supportive of his nephew, though he also worries about him getting in trouble during his endeavors. Hephaestus was the one who made and gifted Eros his bow and his arrows of love

Pattia

Pattia is Hephaestus's apprentice around the time of Coral Bay. The two were introduced by Dionysus, who found Pattia after her escape from an abusive king. Hephaestus took her under his wing due to her forging abilities as well as the mutual understanding the two had with eachother. Both of them were outcasts, and they found close bond formed from this understanding. Hephaestus worked to try and bring Pattia out of her shell. and Pattia gave all she could to learn and make Hephaestus proud.

Trivia
