Basics
Ayase is a trendy and outgoing teenager who presents herself as a riajuu. She keeps up with all the new trends and always tries to be friends with everyone. While she acts cheerful and easygoing, she's actually quite the tsundere, and she has difficulty at being honest with herself. She's extremely obsessed with beetles but keeps it a secret from other people.

Appearance
Ayase has long light brown fluffy curly hair parted from the right, and reddish-pink eyes. She wears two yellow clips in an X-shape on the right side of her hair.
At school, she wears an open light pink cardigan as well as a light blue ribbon for the winter uniform. In summer, she wears the ribbon instead of the standard tie. She also wears crumpled socks alongside her uniform. She likes to wear trendy clothes in general, especially those that tend to show off her legs.
Personality
Ayase is generally cheerful, but she can be quite short-tempered. She acts as if she's familiar with many things, but she's actually quite pure-hearted and gets embarrassed very easily. Due to her desire to 'fit in', she's relentless in making friends, and often finds herself roped into doing things she dreads (like going to mixers) just so she wouldn't be seen as a killjoy. When with people she's comfortable around, she's very clingy and affectionate.
Ayase has been fascinated with insects, especially beetles, ever since she was a child. But because she got bullied for it, she now hides this fact for fear of being judged. She is now extremely self-conscious about her image and will do anything for it not to be compromised. She tries to keep her interests discreet and instead projects a "normal" image to not be found out. As such, she's not good at being honest with herself even though all she wants to do is to enjoy her interests freely.

Relationships
Mamoru Uehara [ Childhood Friend ]
Neighbors and best friends since they were kids. The two are super casual with each other, and often let loose whenever they are together. Because of their closeness, Ayase is completely comfortable being herself around Mamoru, and is a bit jealous of how open and honest he is about what he likes to do. She admires his old outgoing self and nowadays is the one who drags him outside. She openly encourages Mamoru to be a bit more outgoing but at the same time feels a bit uncomfortable if he starts getting too popular for his own good. She calls him Maa-kun.
Tatsuya Sato [ Big Brother ]
The two have a typical brother-sister relationship, always clingy and very lively. While Ayase acts disgusted with Tatsuya's affection, she's actually quite clingy towards him. Tatsuya's pureness regarding romance also rubs off on her, so she sometimes consults him about love matters. She tries to cheer him up whenever he gets dumped but at the same time also nudges him to take a hint regarding Natsumi's feelings.
Yukio Kazama [ Acquaintance (?) ]
Ever since Yukio snubbed her when she first tried to befriend him, the two have hated each other. They bicker a lot and never miss an opportunity to take jabs at the other when they're in the same room. Ayase, for her part, genuinely wants to befriend him, but she just gets annoyed at how he refuses to get along with her despite her attempts. Despite, or perhaps because of their mutual dislike, they can read each other pretty well.
