Appearance

Mamoru has dark blue hair and turqoise eyes. His most distinctive feature is his ahoge.

At school, he wears a blue cardigan with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows as well as the standard green tie for the winter uniform. In summer, he wears the regular uniform, but tucks his tie in his chest pocket. He's never seen without his black and blue wireless headphones. He doesn't really care about what kind of clothes he wears, though he generally prefers those with 3/4th sleeves.

Personality

Mamoru is usually chill and passive, with not much drive for anything. He tends to have an apathetic approach towards nearly everything and just goes with the flow. While he doesn't really bother with things he's not interested in, he can actually be quite brilliant if puts in all his effort for something. He can get really determined when he wants to be and is able to stand up for people he cares about when it really counts. He apparently used to be more adventurous and outgoing as a kid but has since mellowed out and now prefers to play games indoors.

When it comes to games, Mamoru is always passionate and gives his all. So focused is he on gaming that he will willingly lose sleep to rank for events or risk playing in class. He gets super competitive and hates to lose in any game. He can also be quite petty whenever he gets results he doesn't like and quite affectionate when he gets results he does like. He's also more willing to do things he's otherwise too lazy to do (such as join a sports club) as long as it's for his games.

Relationships

Ayase Sato  [ Childhood Friend ]

Neighbors and best friends since they were kids. The two are super casual with each other, and often let loose whenever they are together. Due to his passive nature, Mamoru usually just lets Ayase drag him around and lets her does whatever she wants, but he's extremely grateful for her presence. He's somewhat jealous of how passionate she is with her interests, so he encourages her to be open about them. He actually has had feelings for her since middle school and has always found her to be quite cute, but hasn't yet found the need to tell her about it. He calls her Aya-chan.

Natsumi Uehara  [ Big Sister ]

The two have a somewhat hands-off relationship, just letting the other do their own thing. They're both passive people, so they don't get into fights as much as Tatsuya and Ayase. Sometimes they eat out when there's nothing at home and play video games together (Natsumi often beats Mamoru, to his annoyance). Mamoru often feels guilty for letting Natsumi shoulder their family's problems, and sometimes worries if he's a burden to her. On a lighter note, he admires his sister in his own way and is very pleased to have outgrown her in height.

Rin Matsumoto  [ Classmate ]

They became friends when Mamoru discovered Rin's luck in gacha scouting by accident. Since then, he has considered her as his indispensable pinch-hitter and is unusually affectionate with her. He also admires her kindness and eagerness to help people as he believes he's too passive. Additionally, the two are often stuck as the mediators whenever Yukio and Ayase bicker (more so on Rin's part).
