Profile
Thanatos is one of the minor gods of Coral Bay. Thanatos is the god of death, and serves as a guide for shades to The Underworld where he resides with his brother Hypnos.
Personality
Thanatos is a serious god who takes his job pretty seriously, but he can and has been tricked from time to time. He can also very blunt, and very rarely emotes in positive ways unless with his brother or another loved one. He's also fairly quiet when he's alone, when he's nervous, or when he's focusing, mostly a holdover from his childhood. Despite this, he is known to be gentle, resulting in him being generally likeable. He also gets very flustered by flirting and close contact, which Eros and Hermes love to cause.
Thanatos was born along with his brother Hypnos before the reestablishment of the Underworld, and as a result grew up in a pretty dangerous environment where monsters were a real threat to any god on their own. As a result, Thanatos grew up learning when he needed to be quiet and how to hide among the shadows in order to stay safe, and this persisted even after the Underworld became safer with Hades rule. Thanatos never really had many friends due to how secluded his childhood was, and only started gaining friends and lovers in his adulthood, meaning he had to learn how to interact with other gods pretty late and causes some of his actions and reactions to seem weird.
After the attack lunched on the gods of Olympus by the demons succeeded and discorperated most of the gods, weakening them enough for them to loss their chosen forms, Thanatos found himself having to take over Hades's role in order to keep the Underworld together. This task proves hard for Thanatos, though he learns how to handle himself and how to lead. Thanatos ends up assembling the shades together and leading them into the final battle to overthrow the demons.

Eros
Thanatos was not exactly sure when he fell for Eros, all that he knew is that he was drawn to this bright and lively god from the moment he saw him. He generally tried to avoid his growing feelings, as he was unfamiliar with these feelings and he was slightly afraid of them. So it was quite a surprise when Eros started seeking him out at night, at first only as friendly meetings, and then later they developed into meetings between lovers once the two gods realized their feelings for eachother. Thanatos was slow on the ball, never having a relationship before this, and he started learning from Eros how to express himself more and more. This unfamiliarity does cause him to get flustered easily.
Hermes
Thanatos first met Hermes when the messenger started to take up some of the psycopomp responsibilities that were based on more violent deaths. The two became friends overtime as they worked together, and Thanatos did feel fairly close to Hermes. Thanatos would find out Hermes's feelings when he stumbled upon him and Eros arguing over him. Thanatos reasoned that he didn't want to chose between the two gods he cared deeply for, and Hermes and Eros reluctantly agreed to both set aside their hostilities for Thanatos. This proved to be the best option, as Hermes and Eros ended up falling for eachother along with Thanatos. Hermes was able to teach Thanatos how to relax and have fun after years of fear and high vigilance, and Hermes is always able to make him laugh.
- Thanatos can often be seen with butterflies around him, these being souls that he had recently collected.
- He and his brother Hypnos normally work together, and are often seen together in the Underworld.
- Thanatos has a sword and can sometimes be seen carrying an upside-down torch when he's collecting souls.
