Love is a beautiful and complicated thing, but we all need it in some way.
― Eros

Eros is the god of love, lust, and sex. He was once a primordial deity brought into existence by Chaos, and was later reborn as a son of Aphrodite and Ares.

Appearance

Primordial Eros is a deity that fluctuates depending on when he manifests. He would manifest in a huge form back in the beginning to match his fellow primordials, however now manifesting from his god form his wingspan is the only element that increases. His skin is deep pink with blotches of lighter pink on his face, shoulders, and elbows. His eyes are dark pink with heart shaped pupils that are misty and glow. His wings are a duller pink with lighter feathers on the top and deep dark feathers toward the bottom. His pink hair seems to flow with an unknown wind, swaying slowly.

In his god form, Eros stands about 6'3, taller then his father but slightly shorter then his mother. He has darker patches of skin on his face, shoulders, and elbows, a reflection of his primordial side. His wings are mostly light pink, and transition to a darker pink farther down. His eyes are deep pink, and his wild hair is similar in color to Aphrodite.

In both forms, his wings seem to shift their colors, with some sections shifting higher up or lower down.

Personality

Eros is very arrogant and self confident in his abilities and his status, and is viewed as an annoyance at best and unbearable at worst. These elements are part of what make him and Apollo enemies, on top of the curse Eros inflicted Apollo with that has caused his loves to end in tragedy, which Eros secretly regrets but he refuses to admit it. This regret is part of his softer side, a side that is only shown to those he trusts, and this side makes him a great companion to those who are willing to have him. While it's hard to knock the normally cheeky domineer, doing so is a mistake, as it can bring forth his primordial form which normally ends badly for the parties involved. This primordial side is cold and uncaring, a powerful being only focused on taking out the threat. Once he reverts back to his god form, he doesn't remember what happened while in his primordial form, and just seems like a blank spot in his memory.

History

Primordial Eros was born as one of three deities created by Chaos, with the other two being Tartarus and Gaia. Because their wouldn't be humans for a long time yet, Primordial Eros was mostly working in the background with his fellow primordial and their subsequent offspring. Despite being distant, Primordial Eros did take particular interest in one of Nyx and Erebus's sons Thanatos, keeping an eye on the young god of death from a distance, something that would unknowingly come back to him later on when he decided to be reborn so he could integrate himself with the Olympians. He was reborn as the son of Aphrodite and Ares, and in doing so lost his memory of being a primordial deity, but he didn't fully lose this form as some would accidently come to find out.

After the attack lunched on the gods of Olympus by the demons succeeded and discorperated most of the gods, weakening them enough for them to loss their chosen forms, Eros was spared due to his primordial form kicking in and allowing him to escape, however the blank spot this transformation left for once weighted heavily on Eros. He becomes determined to find out why he has this primordial form, and struggles with who he is now that this has been revealed to him. Along this quest, he stumbles upon Hades, Poseidon, and Athena after they reformed, and lends his hand to get them back to the rest of the group and fight off the pursuing demons while finding out more about himself in the process.

Relationships

Thanatos

I don't understand why others shy away from Thanatos, he's a pure hearted god, and honestly quite a cutie!
― Eros

Eros's feelings for Thanatos have spanned centuries starting from when he was still a primordial. Primordial Eros was fascinated and curious about Thanatos, though he watched from a distance and never actually approached the god of death. This fascination would pass down to god Eros, who after seeing Thanatos guiding souls to the Underworld, became determined to seek Thanatos out. They would continue to meet often, growing to be friends which would then transition to love as the meetings continued. Night time became an event they came to look forward to, and soon Hermes would join them, creating a trio who loved eachother. Eros and Hermes's favorite pastime is showering Thanatos in compliments, kisses, and cuddles until the god of death ends up super flustered.

Hermes

At first when Eros and Hermes found out the both liked Thanatos, the two butted head on who loved him more. Once Thanatos found out about this, he said that he liked them both and didn't want to chose between the two of them, So for Thanatos's sake, Eros and Hermes begrudgingly got along at first, but as time went on, the two learned to appreciate and eventually love eachother along with Thanatos. Now it isn't uncommon to see Eros and Hermes together on Olympus, both enjoying eachothers company while they wait until night when they will slip away and find Thanatos so they can smother him with love.

Trivia

  • Eros is naturally flirt by nature, however he isn't seeking out any new relationships, perfectly happy with his relationship with Thanatos and Hermes.
  • He gets along well with his uncle Hephaestus, and will often check up on him daily to make sure he's doing okay.
  • Eros himself has an effect on others around him due to his domains, this normally happens with mortals, as he actually has to focus for this to have an effect on another god.
