Ambrose DuMortier

Mortician who found himself unexpectedly killed then unceremoniously resurrected as an awakened undead. Has embalmed his own body and adheres to a very strict postmortem routine to continue to pass as a living (albeit rather gaunt) man. Being the sort to spin misfortune into opportunity, he continues to sell his profession, parading himself as proof of the effectiveness of his embalming concoction to those who don't have easy access to magic-users who can preserve corpses with the wave of a wand or the strum of a lute. 

Silver-tongued and a bit of a sleezebag, doesn't shy away from exploiting people's discomfort and insecurity around death in order to promote his business. He seems to have no shortage of vanity and boisterous self-confidence, though it's a very performative affair. Behind that bright facade, however, is a deep loathing of his current state. While he can act conceited towards strangers, one of his greatest fears is facing anyone who knew him in life (which is only second to a loss of control over his body, but he'll be damned if he's gonna let that happen again). 

Think of him like an onion with maybe, like, 12 layers? The first few layers are just “sleezebag with no sense of shame who preys on the death insecurity of others”. Well, actually, like the first…11… and a half… layers are that. But dig even deeper and sometimes he does care and is capable of sacrificing his own interests for the sake of others, although he’s hard pressed to do so. Though, he's not afraid to cut his losses and book it out of danger if he thinks he (or his appearance, given that wounds don't heal anymore) are in serious peril. 

Short-lived PC but his whole deal works better as a standalone character.
