Sadie had to grow up quickly, and this shows in the dual nature of her personality. At first, she appears to be sullen, sarcastic, and bitter. With time, however, one can see a more shy and idealistic side. Sadie often feels insecure and takes great solace in the few friends she has allowed herself to make. Sadie grew up in Boston, shuttled from foster home to foster home. Deeply unhappy as a child, Sadie convinced herself that the waitressing job she eventually took at a restaurant called Alley's Diner was better than nothing, but she ached for fame in the music world. Her dreams began to come true when she met Brian, a regular at the diner, who invited her to join his band as a drummer. Sadie is now more successful than she could have ever dreamed of being, and looks forward to her star continuing to rise.
Brian got to know Sadie after becoming a regular at Alley's Diner, the restaurant where Sadie works. She was initially unsure of Brian's offer to add her to his band, but decided to take a chance on him. Sadie is grateful that she did--Brian has since become her dear friend. Brian's mixture of caring and sarcasm mixes well with Sadie's personality, and although the two exchange a lot of ribbing, they genuinely respect one another.
Sadie got to know Julian through Brian, as Brian acquired Julian's bass-playing talents for the band. Julian can appear intimidating at first, but is secretly a gentle guy. Sadie picked up on this, and now trusts Julian as she would a big brother. Julian, in turn, does his best to help Sadie feel secure and confident.
Brian introduced Sadie and Ricardo, as Brian added Ricardo to the band as the lead singer. Sadie could not help but to be charmed by Ricardo right away, and has become tightly bonded to him. Ricardo is a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, well meaning guy, and some of this good cheer seems to have rubbed off on Sadie. She tends to be significantly less surly when Ricardo is around.
Julian introduced Angelica to the band, and she now serves as their manager. Sadie wishes that this were not the case! Sadie finds Angelica to be crude, greedy, and obnoxious--and she is not wrong. Despite Angelica's self-serving attempts to extend the olive branch to Sadie, Sadie remains suspicious of her.
