Julian seems intimidating when one first sees him--he's a big, hulking guy who says little and often appears to be scowling. However, this does not mirror his true personality--he's really a gentle soul who enjoys reading poetry and spending time with friends. His true joy in life, though, is rocking out on his bass guitar with his band, The Screaming Banshees. Julian does not mind the idea of the band becoming a roaring success, but is also content to remain in his little circle in Boston. Julian grew up in Boston and has remained there as an adult. As a child, Julian was often on the sidelines, but adult Julian has chosen to make his mark on the world by entertaining others. He achieved financial success and stability by working his way up through management at a bar called The Orchid, eventually coming to own the establishment. Julian greatly enjoys his primary job, but found happiness on a higher level when he made friends with Brian and joined The Screaming Banshees. Nowadays, Julian is living his dream life--comfortable, fulfilled, and surrounded by friends.
Brian happened to visit The Orchid one night, and made friends with Julian almost as soon as Julian came to his table to see if he was enjoying the bar. He convinced Julian to form The Screaming Banshees with him, and Julian considers this to be the best decision he's ever made. Brian can come across as irritable and contrarian, but has a heart of gold underneath. Julian recognizes this fact, and considers Brian to be his dearest friend.
Julian came to know Ricardo after Brian "found" him at a local concert and offered him a role as The Screaming Banshees' lead singer. He got to like Ricardo quickly--but then, Ricardo is hard not to like! Ricardo is cheerful, fun-loving, and spontaneous, all qualities which Julian appreciates. Julian sometimes worries about Ricardo's lack of responsibility, but is also willing to lend Ricardo a hand whenever he needs one.
Julian and Sadie were introduced by Brian, who met Sadie after becoming a regular at the diner where she works. Sadie is not one to be easily won over, but Julian's kindness convinced her to join The Screaming Banshees as their drummer. Sadie appears to be tough and streetwise, but is in fact rather shy and eager to be liked. Julian sees these qualities in her, and does his best to help Sadie to feel more secure and cared for.
Julian found Angelica when she wandered into The Orchid one night. Her smooth talking convinced him to make her The Screaming Banshees' manager, over Brian's misgivings. Julian gets frustrated at times with Angelica's hard-nosed, power-hungry ways--she certainly is not always easy to deal with. However, she appears to be doing a decent job at managing the band, and so Julian retains her services.
