PIKE of BLUEFORT
Lake guardian deity
A deity who has sworn to protect the people of a lake town known as Bluefort. The people of the town are often bored by the lack of action, but if they knew all the things Pike had to put up with to protect them, they might reconsider. He was banished to the mortal world after losing a battle to his brother, and in doing so he lost not only his immortality, but also his influence.
He is almost a slave to routine, and disruptions make him angry. However, due to his old age he can do little to change the course of time to fit his own schedule. His diet is mostly fish, luckily the lake is big enough to stay full even after a long day of both his own hunting and human fishing boats depleting the fish. Though he can survive quite a while without food (he is kind of a deity), he still eats to keep himself strong and ready to take on any threats. He is a great fighter, but his main strength is one-on-one combat. Not that he can't take multiple enemies, he just prefers not to. His spear was a gift from a much stronger deity, and he wants to keep it as safe as possible.

Persona
Since he rarely loses a fight, his ego is pretty great. He tries his best to stay humble, but he can't help but feel a rush of self-importance every time he vanquishes a particularly tough foe. He prefers to work alone, luckily there isn't anyone around who wants to partner up.
Sorry, I mean wasn't. Ember, a cat from the Tribe of Ashes, challenged him to a fight one day and won, and in return he asked that Pike become his mentor. Pike did so reluctantly, but after a while he came to appreciate Ember and all that he wished to achieve. Spending time with Ember softened and humbled him a bit, and also made him more willing to expand his fighting horizons. Nowadays, he's more of a peaceful deity that challenges his more passive opponents to heated games of chess (thanks to Ember he has gotten pretty good). He still doesn't understand Ember's fascination with him, but he is grateful for the experience.
History
Pike was born in the Celestial Halls, as are many deities, but a losing battle against his brother Seth got him banished to the mortal world. He was sent down around the time that the lake town was originally built, and he grew up defending it. The people of the town called him a god and gave him offerings of peace. He accepted them with grace and in return continued to defend the town. Monsters back in the day were much stronger, so he had to adapt quickly to defeat them effectively.
Ember showed up when he was nearing his fifth century. The cat was feisty and incredibly fast, and he managed to best Pike in a fight within minutes. After that, Ember insisted that Pike mentor him, to teach him to become a hero or something. Pike agreed, he had no reason not to, but he was unsure of what he knew that Ember did not. He focused on smaller things, like catching fish and being courteous to humans, but Ember never seemed to learn. They spent most of their waking hours together, and though they grew very close, Pike was still confused. Time passed, new friends stopped by and left, the town was rebuilt yet again, but he and Ember stayed together. No longer was Pike the mentor and Ember the apprentice, but they both taught and learned from each other, and their friendship ran deeper than blood.
However, in the time between their initial meeting and their deep friendship, a number of things happened. For one, a monster got past Pike and reached the town. Pike told Ember to go fight it off; he was weak and out of practice. Ember tried his best, but in the end he couldn’t stop the destruction. It was then that Ember showed true sadness and despair, something that Pike had thought impossible before then. Secondly, Ember taught Pike his secret technique. Since Ember was made for speed, not for overpowering enemies, he fought by using his foe’s strength against them. It took a while to master, but by the time they were both fluent in the language of speed, their sparring matches grew intense and heated, and their wins and losses balanced each other out.
Pike is not immortal, he merely has an incredible lifespan. Ember is similar, but he is much younger and has many more years left than Pike. Conversations of those sorts are awkward for them both, but Pike wants Ember to know that when he dies, the lake will be left in Ember’s capable paws.

Main attack
He can combine many small attacks for one big scary one! Or he can just use a bunch of big ones slowly, like the Pod C from NieR: Automata. Very versatile, and useful in most situations.
Swimming
Growing up on a lake will do that to you, y'know? He's had literally centuries of practice, so he's pretty good. Not perfect, surprisingly, but still a worthy foe.
Inimidation
A mixed bag; it only works on those who don't know him. For instance: neither Ember nor Seth would bat an eye, Rose and Blana might get a little bit uneasy, and a weak rouge invader would run for the hills!
Water magic
Magic is definitely not his forte, but he still practices it when he can. It's good to have a variety of skills to work with, after all. This and Ember's signature speed are his "hidden tactics," you could say.
Inventory
Spear [ weapon ]
A gift from a higher deity, one that Pike strives to protect. It has been enchanted a few times to keep it strong and sharp, fortunately that keeps it intact as well.
Armor [ it's just armor ]
It increases his already impressive defense stat; it isn't the strongest but combined with his scales it makes him invincible in most situations.
Jewelry [ accessory ]
He looks all sparkly and jingles and jangles when he walks! It may all be prizes collected from vanquished foes, or maybe he's just a creative guy who likes to make jewelry! Either way, it looks snazzy.
Pants [ other armor ]
No defense at all, they're kinda just there for some sort of decency. Do deities even need that kind of decency? Does he just want to look cool? Ever the mysterious fellow, he refuses to say.

Life at the Lake
In which Pike and Ember meet up for the first time; the beginning of a strong friendship. Pike is humiliated in a fight, for once, and Ember becomes his apprentice. Fun banter happens, and the two go fishing.
