I know Cat already has a biological brother, but from what I've seen between them there's nothing but strife. How can someone sweet and sensitive like Cat be related to someone so bitter and sadistic? Anyway, we may not be blood related, but it takes more than that to make a family as the old saying goes. The rest of her family is quite pleasant; it's just her brother has some unresolved trauma and tends to lash out on those who pry in his business. Unfortunately, Cat has been on the receiving end the most; it feels like she's his emotional punching bag, and I won't stand idle watching her take that.
Believe it or not, I look up to Blaze like a brother despite already having one myself. True; I don't see my real brother all that often and when I do nothing good comes out of it - yelling at each other, being patronized by him...mental side effects from the drugs he did. Now I don’t see him much often due to his work. Blaze basically makes up for my brother's shortcomings. I feel safer with Blaze around for family matters; he knows when to pull me out of dangerous situations. It’s not just my brother that he keeps an eye on, either. I’ll admit my entire family is quite messed up with the exception of my mother. Is it weird that my mother enjoys Blaze's company?
We met through an international pen pal program when we were kids. The letters he wrote were rather lengthy but I was engrossed in each one, and I'd look forward to the next. Marco was at a dark period in his life and I felt his pain and loneliness. When we met face to face for the first time, it's like we've known each other for a long time despite the short time frame of the pen pal program.
Life in Australia, for me, was...hectic, to say the least. I found this pen pal program as a ticket out of the country at first, but who knew I'd find a lifelong friend in the process?
I hit a rough patch in my life growing up so my parents signed me up for this international pen pal program. I'd spent the entire summer writing letters to what I thought would be nobody, but it turned out to be a lot of fun as soon as I got letters back. Blaze was the coolest person on paper but when we met face to face it felt so surreal. I have Blaze to thank for making a positive impact on my life.
Before I start, just wanted to point out that I may throw in some unfamiliar lingo here and there (my family is from Australia and we also have strong British roots). I apologize in advance for any confusion.
How I met Kyra is a bit of a blur at the start because I was actually a transfer student at the start of junior year. My old school in Australia wasn’t really doing much for me. However, I was able to adjust to the new school nicely; I made new friends and joined some exciting extracurricular activities. That is, until I discovered what was really going on behind closed doors. I felt that my transferring happened in good timing. Here’s where the tale begins.
I had just joined the marching band the beginning of the semester as part of the colorguard. I first met Kyra then. She seemed polite at first, though a little tongue-tied. By lunch, one of my best mates, Marco, surprised me by telling me that I had met his sister. There was no telling whether or not she liked me, though it was too soon to tell. As the semester progressed, I was caught in a whirlwind of teen drama - I’ll try to keep it short. First, my mates and I formed a rock band and performed for our school talent shows, but our lead singer was a bloody wanker when we found out he was abusing and cheating on his girlfriend - who you may know as Cat. After that whole ordeal came another, which is where Kyra was involved. It was one day during P.E. I had just caught her with sleeping pills behind the bleachers. She was about to end her life. I swatted the sleeping pills away from her and asked to take her to the nurse’s office. While we were there, I got her to calm down and explain everything. It turned out she found out something unsavory about her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend who were a part of the student council. They resorted to blackmail if Kyra were to expose them. I’d rather not disclose the details for Kyra’s sake, but it was really bad. The next time the student council elections rolled around, I signed up to take the former student body president down. I put together a solid campaign which included an original song for our band; we had Kyra sing lead vocals. The song was a smashing success, thus winning me student body president. Of course, every story has a happy ending. I ended up taking Kyra to prom that year and been in love ever since.
Now, there’s much to unpack when talking about Kyra herself. She’s so down to earth and free-spirited. You can always catch her in nature, being in her element. Wherever she goes, I’ll always be right with her. Though, if I may be frank for a moment, she can get carried away and lose focus at times, which is where I step in whether she likes it or not. Even the best relationships have their flaws, yet we’re always teaching each other new things about ourselves which is what I love about Kyra. She can uncover a new potential that I never thought I had, like lighting a fire. 🥰
Not to mention that she’s a kick-a$$ guitarist - she’s like Orianthi level good! 🤩
I owe everything to this man. I was at a dark time in my life when I just wanted to end the suffering myself, but God sent an angel to me that day. I watched him bring justice to a corrupt educational institution by overthrowing my ex-boyfriend as student body president. I watched him rebel against a manipulative narcissist who was Cat’s boyfriend at the time. Best of all, I get to watch him shine on stage and in my life. If it weren’t for him, I’d be dead. I know it all sounds pretty dramatic, but it’s true. High school was no picnic for me. My ex-best friend left me for my ex-boyfriend who was student body president and abused his power that only benefited the social elite while the peasantry were left to suffer. When I found out about these policies I wanted to tell a trustworthy adult at the time but I was…blackmailed.
Enough about that. I’m stronger than before because of Blaze. True, he can be blunt at times, but his intentions are pure at best. Not many people understand that Blaze can be sensitive and empathetic but they seem to know him for his assertion and decisive side. I guess that’s why he became so inclined to music; it’s to let those feelings show. He has a healthy emotional outlet and I commend him for that.
We play music together, we go out and surround ourselves with nature…I’m never bored with him! 🥰
Rochelle's an incredible artist. She's mostly a ceramicist and her pottery should be displayed in a museum; it's that good. She also draws, mostly landscapes and she's getting into anime-styled drawing from what I've heard. Speaking of anime...she keeps telling me I look like some character from one of her shows - I honestly don’t see it. Other than that, Rochelle's creativity and artistry is something to behold. We also go out for coffee when I'm on break; she'll order the sweetest drink on the menu and if you're not careful her sugar rushes can get crazy. I always have to make sure she gets decaf.
*whispering*Don't tell Blaze that he looks like Ren Jinguji from Uta no Prince Sama!! He looks so similar to him; it's crazy!!
Anyway...Blaze is an awesome musician! He takes his work very seriously, and I admire his ambition. If he made an album, I'd buy at least 10 of them. 😂 He's also my go-to coffee shop buddy! 😊
I've never met anyone more ambitious than Sutton. His rationale is second to none. True; I work in the music industry but his field of work has a strong influence over mine. Most songs are influenced or inspired by politics. As a member of 5tar5truck, his stage presence is outstanding. We also play in a saxophone quartet with another friend of ours. Overall, Sutton's great company.
The one thing we have in common is taking our work seriously. As a music producer, Blaze has no trouble taking control over sound quality and working with artists that come to his studio. He knows what’s best for his clients, if you will. There’s just no stopping him from reaching his goals.
We also play saxophone and if our schedules permit we play in a community saxophone quartet during the summer with Blaze on tenor and myself on alto.
I respect Blaze as a fellow musician and happy to consider him a friend.
