An average and constantly tired man who works at an office job in Fukuoka. He gets annoyed and irritated easily, but hates showing it. Not exactly the nicest person, but is generally pleasant most of the time. He dies during the Hollow Night.

Personality
"Got a headache again. I need to start bringing my pills with me. Ugh."

Hitoki is an average old man with your average middle aged interests. He doesn't exactly stand out much, compared to others. Due to his upbringing, he is often tired, and can sometimes be quick to shut a conversation down so he doesn't have to commit to it. He can get easily irritated and annoyed, especially in his workspace, but stays passive and only implies it to others at most. Despite this, he genuinely has a good heart and is overall approachable; Hitoki is bogged down with great stress that it might not seem like it at first. The idea of coming off as cruel and awful is one of his biggest fears, in fact.

As one of the managers at his job, he is generally liked by his peers and co-workers for being more casual and easy to work with.

  • He has around roughly 7 different coats; one is for each day of the week.
  • He likes cats, but doesn't let them into his apartment. Yet, he finds himself looking through pet stores...
  • He likes to listen to ambient sounds on a good day. "Sea sounds are good for the heart," he says.
  • He hates having his hands show around others, which is why his sleeves are often long.
  • His favorite hobbies consist of: surfing internet stores (hopefully not for more coats,) sleeping, playing with apps designed for middle aged consumption, making soup and rice dishes, sleeping more, watching drama movies, and sleeping...even more.

"I don't understand people who need to have everything on them."

Taser

"I have no idea why this was given to me. Do I look that defenseless? (I appreciate the thought.)" Given to him as a Christmas present during a potluck. Confused him at first, but it helps him out ultimately.

Background
"I'm not an employee of God anymore. Leave that in the past. Please. (So damn annoying.)"

Appearance

Hitoki's attire doesn't stand out too much, but shows off his style well. He commonly wears coats with droopy sleeves (feminine or masculine, he doesn't care,) with a generic t-shirt or his office uniform underneath. The colors can range from black to light beige. Pin buttons can be adorned on the bottom of the coat occasionally, sort of like another guy kinda like him? Nevermind. Must be a coincidence.

Backstory

As soon as Hitoki was put onto this world, he was born and presumably fated to follow his family tree's path. As a part of the Mikadzuki Family, (it's also romanized as mikaduki too right. i swear it is. ill search that again later.) a lineage of Shinto priests, he was intended to inherit the position of one in his current generation. Being the only child, his parents made the decision to relentlessly push him into it, believing the fate of their tree fell into his hands. While Hitoki thought of it as normal family behavior when he was young, he would slowly begin to realize that he was effectively being brainwashed, isolated, abused, and forced into a lifestyle he wanted no part in. In his teen years, his spite became more evident to them, resulting into more issues. He commonly took odd jobs in secret to save money for his getaway. Around his early thirties, he moved out and started to live in a distant apartment, with no evidence left behind of where he was. His parents attempted to find him with no avail.

After settling into his new home, he applied for a proper office job and would get hired after a couple of attempts. He balanced this and a few odd jobs to catch himself up to speed after the move. After a while, he would only have to commit to his office work once he was promoted to manager. Even though he was tired and his patience was worn to the bone, he felt like he was finally living as his own person. He began to record his thoughts after his promotion every night on a video, and humbled himself with small indulges every now again. He lived an average and typical life that a middle aged man would. While he was content in his position, he has logged a good amount of thoughts that consisted of clear emotional issues, such as his fears of dying alone, desire for love, his easy irritation, and his general spite of his upbringing. However, a good amount of thoughts are also just about him liking the small things everyday. Some others are...he should really start making folders on his phone. He knows how to, right? R-Right? Hitoki?

Unfortunately for him, his moments of a normal life would feel short-lived, and his worst fears would come to be his reality. A Hollow Night pops up in Fukuoka; while evacuations and warnings were broadcasted before all technology was rendered useless, Hitoki was deeply asleep and wouldn't realize until it was too late. His apartment complex was sucked into the Night, and he woke up suddenly nauseated, as if he was about to vomit uncontrollably. The utter silence psyched him out, followed by plates and shelves falling suddenly. He goes into his living room, his guard up and ready to defend. "I don't know who the hell is in here, but you're leaving right now," was the last full sentence he'd say before he realizes his enemy is completely invisible. Signs of struggle, a cracked open front door, and thrown objects are the only thing that remains in the house. No one knows what happened except for a stray cat entering through the door. He died alone, without finding love and a resolution to his emotional state. His co-workers and a local old woman he was acquainted with have shown concern over the incident. Maybe Hitoki just moved...No one will ever know.

Relationships
"I really should start to branch out...It's just so tedious."

not very happy family

"I wish I could tell you two to go to hell myself."

Hitoki's mother and father is where the 5th generation of the Mikadzuki begins. The both of them used extreme methods to set him on the path to inherent their role. Secluding him from all social contact, forcing him to abide by tradition, and essentially, trying to brainwash him. Hitoki thought of it as normal until his teen years, and slowly started to despise them. Basically, the average abusive religious family. Hitoki has no plans on reconciliating ever. (Good for him.)
