Personality
"Nodoka, Jubei...I know I'm a bit bad at communication and I don't seem so emotionally connected, but I will always improve for you. I love you both so very much, and I always will."

Noriko is an observant, methodical, and ambitious woman who believes in proving what she believes to be real with the power of science. While she is extremely logical in all her thought processes, Noriko, on the flipside, also believes in the supernatural and apparitions, and puts her whole heart and soul into proving that such oddities exist in the real world, and science can be applied to it. However, with her constant analytic and meticulous temperament, she often overthinks on many things, and tends to assume that people don't like her for being too complex, verbose, and hard to understand, so she tends to be quiet and distant around others. When in conversation with people, she is physically and mentally stiff, and will either blather on about the topic or be extremely quick and blunt as attempts to fit in with the crowd, which unfortunately...doesn't work. This was more prominent in her years as a student, and she is less like this as an employed adult and instead tends to be more dominating and leading in her words. This tendency still pops up and resurfaces nonetheless.

Her highly attentive nature comes from her side of the family, the Tendoujis, who are exceptionally strict and demanding, and only want perfection in their life. Though it comes from them, Noriko expresses that she doesn't like a lot of her family and they perpetually give her panic attack after panic attack, and is scared of them. She believes innovation is meant to be free, and not restrictive as her family makes it to be. Her aggressive ambition and belief in strange phenomena can be seen as an indirect act of rebellion. While her parents have astronomically high expectations of others around them, Noriko doesn't seem to be influenced by it in personality, and is actually quite loose in her expectations unless you bother her, though her quiet nature makes her appear as judgemental. Truthfully, she is just stiff and very poor at communicating with others, but wants to get better at being a people person. She desires a more casual life than the one her family tries to set out for her, hence why she is drawn to Jubei...in college. Not junior high, oh god that is a whole different thing. She is attracted to his supportive, charismatic, and free nature, and wants to be just as free with him, for herself and for Jubei. The thought of it makes her so, so very happy.

When it comes to everything but the fields she is experienced in, she tends to be pessimistic and massively anxious over her abilities, even if she does much research and preparation, mental and physical, beforehand. She is prone to self deprecation, and believes that she isn't good at anything except science, because it's the only thing she likes. She wants to feel like she is good at other things, but she states that she is likely just doomed to be a introverted geek, without realizing that is exactly why Jubei has always liked her from the very beginning. She also believes she doesn't deserve items of luxury, given her reaction whenever Jubei bought her anything, including but not limited to: a high quality microscope, glassware, a pocketbook imported from mainland Niigata, and their wedding rings. She also tended to hide her excitement, believing that she's being rude or too overenthusiastic. Of course, she let go some of these habits as she aged and spent time with Jubei. Her low self esteem reflected on how she took care of Nodoka, accidentally being overbearing and overcautious over her, attempting to always have her ahead of everything else, and being a tad distant when she felt like she didn't provide anything of value until Jubei just told her to calm down and that taking care of Nodoka is not as deep as she thinks it is. All she has to do is be there for her, to make sure Nodoka knows she cares, and to encourage all the great goals Nodoka wants to set. Noriko promised to always improve her care, and to become more open and honest with herself, for her family. She became...extremely smothering and more emotional at even the smallest things that make her happy in the process though, but Nodoka and Jubei like that side of her. Given how she did after Jubei passed, and how Nodoka's upbringing was, I'd say she did a pretty damn good job at it.

Noriko will always, always be excited and hyper for any supernatural encounterings, and attempts to pull Jubei along whenever she senses a phenomena about to happen. Her mood shifts drastically, being exceptionally outgoing, eager, and unapologetically passionate about the supernatural. Unfortunately, the Lab Committee made her fall into the system's trap of the ideology that all apparitions are evil, and must be dealt with and eliminated, especially with the death of Jubei not helping the cause. Nowadays, her passion for the supernatural no longer seems to be out of interest and a desire to study, but instead, out of ambition to suppress and destroy the Hollow Night's existence, to save the people and to avenge those close to her that have fallen to its whims. There seems to be no love for the bizzare in her heart anymore. How...tragic. At work, she is dominant and determined to do anything to get herself further to the answers she needs. well at least she doesn't show this outside of the workplace and it all stays there thank fucking god. she doesnt want nodoka to take the path she has

  • Even though she is the more stiff one in comparison to Jubei, she is highly, highly romantic. No anniversary date or special occasion slips by this woman, and she obsesses over counting down the days until it happens. She can be extremely flirty too.
  • Noriko gets excited when doing mundane activities outside and says that she's upping her "bad girl" appeal. She really is not. Girl you went out to swim.
  • When she was a teenager, she wore pigtails until her second year in high school, where she changed to the flat hair style she wears now.
  • Loves cats so so SO much, but they don't love her back.
  • ^ Jubei assumed any scratches she had came from work, but eventually learned she keeps trying to hold stray alley cats. this kinda nonsense is exactly why jubei is smitten
  • if the voiceclaim didnt already tell you. Noriko is jawdropping at singing, but she only does it when she's obsessively going through all the radio stations in the car.
  • She tried to make a "Void-attracting dowsing rod" in her first year of college. To everyone's total surprise, it doesn't work at all. Who would've guessed.
  • Noriko and Jubei won a dance festival together in middle school. She was incredibly embarrassed the whole time, especially because he was too suspiciously buddy-buddy with her, but Jubei's crush just grew bigger that day.
  • Noriko's hobbies consist of: searching for music through radio stations, playing word games, learning about rail transportation all around the world, collecting CDs, recording little Nodo's day to day life (and crying,) taking care of fish with Jubei, researching typhoons, decorating the house, slot car racing, collecting pins, and picnicking.
  • Noriko is really clumsy and bad at all sports, but she really loves snowmobiling. As long as she can hold onto Jubei.
  • Since getting with Jubei, she has taken quite the liking to improving her fashion. Mostly to enhance her, ahem, sex appeal. I mean hey that means her self confidence is ten times higher now.
  • While Noriko isn't big on sweets and sometimes even gags at them, she absolutely will get caught in the kitchen at night getting the most saltiest potato chips imaginable.
  • Noriko loved to read stories to Nodoka. Uh, but it was usually...anatomy textbooks. Now those. Those put her to sleep 1 page in, unless the page had a funny picture.
  • Noriko also loves car rides at night. Her and Jubei did something. Interesting on an anniversary date during one. And she will never forget it for the entire rest of her life. It was definitely her most daring act.
  • Noriko apparently had a secret project in the works to bring...him back. She eventually abandoned it because she knows it wouldn't be the same. And she'd get scolded by him if it even worked.
  • On that note, Noriko would never remarry, ever in her life. Jubei was her special one and would rather reminisce because he makes her happy, and no other person could replace or make her feel as happy again.
  • mothers when they go to a parents home personally and DEMAND they apologize when their child is being bullied

"Ohh...My handsome, handsome man. ♡ So sweet, so romantic, so strong, he really was my everything...Even if he smelled like fish a lot when he came home. I miss him terribly. I'm so sorry that I..."

Noriko and Jubei are nothing but a marriage brimming with unconditional love. They've brought the best aspects of each other by simply growing a relationship and showing their care to one another, and wanting to improve themselves for not just the both of them respectively, but for their own selves. Noriko's (blunt) words and quiet nature made Jubei more aware of his surroundings and his actions, and that he in fact, cannot let his pride in himself become a destructive arrogance. In turn, as Jubei became more sweet and supportive, Noriko grew more into a casual, free, and generally less tense and emotional woman from the influence and push of Jubei's words. And very, very flirty. Like, fingers trailing up his body and saying romantic words flirty, not that Jubei minds...Talk about a 180! Of course, both love each of their more silly sides. Jubei is smitten with Noriko's quirks and how easily excited she gets at the smallest stuff when they go to any outings. Noriko is smitten with how absentminded and extremely clumsy he can be. (Nodoka had to get the trip over nothing genetics from someone!) Even with their jobs and their child, everyday they find a way to still spend time together. Nothing could stray them away from showing the full extent of their love.

In middle school, Jubei's feelings were extremely unrequited, with him acting buddy-buddy and Noriko being a bit offput by his sudden change in character, but never really minding it and let him hang around her. It wasn't until college they would see each other, and Noriko was absolutely taken aback by his, uh...much, much bigger appearance, for one, and just how sweet and cuddly he felt as a person. Eventually Noriko would admit that Jubei has been making her feel weird in the heart, and noting how much happier she has been feeling having someone like him by her side. Jubei, who's been crushing hard on the girl of his dreams that suddenly disappeared, was nothing but elated.

She also tended to lie to get out the house a lot to be with him and get home late, much to her family's disdain. She always talks to Nodoka on how much of a "bad girl" mom used to be back in the day. Nodoka just shoots it down and says that was just her escaping an abusive house. Phooey~ It is true though.

She feels incredibly responsible for his death and never lives it down. She misses him so much and wishes through some cosmic fate, he is out there, stuck in the dimension of the Night and still alive, or something...

"My little angel. Look at how independent and sweet she has become. Truly, truly has become every best aspect of me and her father! (I pray she never goes into the Committee...just do Chemistry or Geneaology or something, sweetheart.)

"Your kind has ruined my life and my daughter's life. You've ruined many of my co-worker's lives...I will get rid of all of you, and never again will the threat of your mere existence be in the thoughts of us humans..."

Noriko shouts to the glass, all while helplessly crying to herself. He is but a Void for her to use to get closer to an answer for extermination, now with #0 locked up, so why is she here, venting to him, as if he could possibly respond...?
