Bio

Elahranon, also known as El, is a copper-and-gold dragon and a hopeful believer in true love. An older sister devoted to her family and her betrothed, Vylrussiol, she's an idealist with the intellect to back it up, and genuinely enjoys navigating the twisted social web of dragon politics. Though she knows Vyl doesn't return her romantic feelings for them, she is dedicated to keeping them safe and their relationship with Seaben a secret, even as she initiates secret plans of her own.

She likes romance novels with happy endings, and has tried her hand at writing some of her own, though they remain unshared. Vyl often asks her to read them aloud, which she has yet to agree to do.

In Bronze and Pirate Gold, she is 18 through 29.

Appearance

  • Dragon Form

In her true form, Elahranon is approximately 14'8" (at age 29), though much longer and able to carry multiple humanoid passengers with ease. She is coppery-gold, and quite shiny due to a dedicated scale care routine. Her markings are subtle rings and spots, which are mainly visible when they reflect light differently than the rest of her scale. Her belly scales are a darker, redder brown. Her wings and fins are a brown that fades to red, and both are flecked with gold speckles. Her eyes are a reddish-brown.  They have two crest horns, each with a smaller, upward-pointing tine, and six jawline horns. After she turns 21, she also has the two chin spikes that denote her age; Her horns are a reddish-brown close to her eye color. Though she has reduced vision (can only see differences in light/shadow), it doesn't change the appearance of her eyes.

  • Humanoid Form

El’s totally blind in human form, but it doesn’t change the appearance of her eyes. She has a ‘seeing eye dog’ spell that helps her navigate, which varies in appearance from a vague orb to an actual spectral dog depending on how much she has to focus; it’s usually more amorphous when she’s in familiar places.

I had a dream early on about Seaben and Valor (don’t @ me.) and that dream ended up giving me the roles for El and Lady Elvenlurk, and while my sleep brain assigned Elvenlurk an appearance, I’m using it for El bc I like it more for her. It does exclude the blind part though, bc it wasn’t her at the time.

He was trying to shove clumps of clay-heavy sand back into one of the bags they’d been using as weights when he heard someone sit down behind him. He stood up with a dramatic sway, ready to welcome Valor back, and found himself staring at a total stranger.
A woman was in their house. She looked incredibly out of place; wearing a kind of loose-fitting, gown-like garment that shimmered in green and gold silks. Despite the dirt on the floor of the building and the spilled clay, and the impenetrable dust and chipped paint of the chair under the window, she looked as though she’d just stepped down from a carriage directly into their landing. She was watching him with an attentive politeness, a very direct look of assessment that made Seaben want to stand a little straighter.
They looked at each other in silence for a few moments, and then the woman tilted her head a little, her focus shifting in some subtle way that reminded Seaben of a cat satisfied with a catch.
“So you’re Valor’s man,” she said. The dim light in the room caught like gold in her brown eyes as she smiled.
Seaben tried to discreetly rub his hands clean. “We’re each other’s. I didn’t see you at the party.”
“You wouldn’t have,” she replied kindly.
[...]
“Busy day,” she said, that smile still in her voice.
“...Yes,” Seaben said. He blinked, re-sorting the events of the past hour. “Damn, that was me, wasn’t it?”
She just tilted her head again, giving him that inscrutably kind look.

The mental picture I’ve got is like. Straight black hair that’s, what’s the word, shiny? Silky? I’m not a cosmetics person. Overall, she looks… noble? But not in an unapproachable way. Dragon society puts a lot of focus on respect and politeness because they are giant reptiles who can murder each other, and El’s reserved decorum carries over, in a way that makes her seem distant to Real Humans even though other dragons would find it normal.
