Wisp is... a mess of a pokemon, really. While he's very sweet and kind to most people he meets, a traumatic event from his younger years has left him paranoid and anxious.
He enjoys helping others wherever he can, for a lot of reasons, which is why he's joined the Rescuers. He wants to be useful in some way, but isn't brave enough to join, say, the Explorers, and never goes out into dungeons alone or in too-small groups.
He's very hardworking and determined when it comes to his goals, but has a tendency to doubt himself too much and, as a result of that and his general self-proclaimed cowardice, doesn't tend to do anything too bold.

Wisp grew up relatively normal, born to a Meowstic and a Furret. While not particularly brave themselves, their childhood friend Oliver, a Growlithe, would often drag them around to get into trouble together. Wisp usually tagged along because they didn't like the idea of him going off alone, and would rather be the person to watch over him in case things went wrong.
Which, unfortunately, they did. One of Oliver's parents was a part of the Explorers' Guild. He idolized her and, wanting to follow in her footsteps, dragged Wisp along to go into a dungeon with him. It was supposedly a low-level one, already mostly cleared out and perfect to start out in. But something was... wrong? Wisp has blocked out most of the memories by now, other than when he gets nightmares about what happened that day, but they were the only one of the two who made it out of that dungeon. Barely, at that.
Wisp avoided dungeons as much as they could after that, even moving towns when they were old enough if they felt there were too many popping up for their liking, paranoid of what might happen. It was only recently that they've dared to set foot in that world again, joining the Rescuers in hopes of helping other Pokemon, so they don't end up how Oliver had.
