Sleekbird later leaves the clan after his leader instructs his kin and bloodline to leave WindClan, so he leaves but not alone. His apprentice Turtlepaw demands to come with Sleekbird and does so. So he travels for a few moons with his apprentice and comes across a farm one night, of course, he was tired and decided to sleep in a barn full of corn. He later wakes to meet Cory a tom farm cat who he had come to soon love.
As the seasons got colder he expected to get sick but, it wasn't that bad this year oddly enough. Later finding out it was because of WindClan's territory. During this time he helps train his apprentice Turtlepaw to get her warrior's name despite not being in the clans anymore.
