Mayumi is charismatic and quick-witted, and is known to have a good balance of being laidback and competitive. She's usually friendly and slightly playful, but knows the right times to be stern and serious. She's very open-minded, especially about social norms and standards, and is good at dealing with criticisms, sarcasm and provocations. People tend to gravitate towards her not only due to her charming looks and genuine character, but also because of her assertiveness and adaptability.

Mayumi is perceptive; she knows how she stands among her peers, and is good at assessing people's strengths/weaknesses. She's confident and competitive, but is careful not to underestimate her opponents. During hero or work studies, she can be a great team-player or leader, but has a tendency to work individually since her quirk is so well-rounded.

Mayumi hates showing a weak side to others. She's a perfectionist when it comes to wielding her quirk, so slow/subpar progress easily frustrates her. She can be a little hypocritical because she tells others to 'take it slow', but she usually doesn't follow her own advice. Mayumi isn't known to have a temper, but when truly provoked, she isn't afraid to get confrontational. She has a habit of cursing in English.

Hero Name: The Cosmic Hero, Stellaria

Stella from the latin word for star + aria which means 'melody' in italian. Stellaria is also the genus name for a common plant that produces star-shaped flower clusters.

Mayumi has the ability to produce, shape and manipulate cosmic energy that's drawn from stars, planets and entire galaxies. In other terms, it's a power that encompasses the essence/life force of the universe. When harnessed, her quirk takes on a golden glow similar to the color of her eyes, and a faint, translucent star mark appears on her forehead. She can form and release her cosmic energy in the form of blasts, waves, shields and physical constructs. She can also weave her energy along her body to increase her physical abilities for a limited time. Her quirk has a slight aspect of emotion inducement; stronger attacks can incite feelings of confusion and intimidation, wherein the opponent feels like they are being thrown into the unknown. 

Because Mayumi can feel and visualize untapped cosmic energy that's present in the environment, she has better situational awareness compared to most people; she can detect major disturbances in the surrounding area, but cannot identify the exact cause or origin. As well, her quirk gives her a deeper connection to the universe as a whole, allowing her to feel and recognize cosmic events to a certain extent, such as creation or destruction of nearby stars and planets, or meteor strikes on Earth. This premonition-like ability of hers is the reason why others describe her as having 'ESP type' senses.

quirk drawbacks

Quirk overuse can lead to muscle and central fatigue, lightheadedness, increased internal temperature and migraines. The hands and arms are the most affected since they are the major 'tools' required to harness her quirk. Manipulating cosmic energy takes a great deal of concentration, especially when fine-tuning the power and area of effect of the attack. Thus, she is susceptible to severe headaches and adverse visual phenomena.

Mayumi's premonition-like sub-ability is quite erratic, and the information and accompanying feelings she receives can vary in intensity and coherence. Thus, she sometimes experiences abrupt changes in mood or momentary loss of concentration. One of her current goals is to be able to be more immune/better deal with these senses and improve on her ability to compartmentalize the information she receives.     

Relationships

Yenica  [ best friend ]

She was Mayumi's first friend after relocating to Japan. They first met at a community dance class, then went on to elementary and junior high together. They also bonded with their ability to speak fluent English.

Levin [ close friend ]

They attended the same junior high together with Yenica. They became fast friends due to their complementing personalities. Levin also frequently helped her deal with adverse visual backlash from overexerting her quirk.

Shoto  [ close friend ]

They are in the same hero class in U.A. With her open-minded and assertive personality, she was able to crack Shoto's cold front and push him to interact more with the class. They are also frequent sparring partners.
